It has only considered 10 professional critics.
I'm sure it would be higher/lower if it considered all professional critics :D

That's 'cuz it's OLD. Metacritic doesnt have anything before 2001 it seems (which is silly).

This is why critics are useless. Critics are just forum posters with a publisher.

66 upside down is a 99. Maybe it's part of the A Thousand Suns journey.

    +1
Most of them don't even know what they are talking about. All in all, it's just another opinion (ie, it doesn't matter).

I don't really think numbers are the important thing in terms of professional reviews - anyone can rate an album out of ten, professional reviews are payed to write reviews: and they always do it a lot better than any forum poster here...

Always? There's probably dozens of people that actively post here that can write better than a lot of the critics.

Well of course, it's not like these reviewers study film theory or music theory at quality schools for several years or anything... :-\

You can tell how valid their opinions are just by seeing how well their article is written.

People should probably keep in mind that critics are reviewing the album from a music listener's point of view, rather than a fan's point of view. You'd probably know so much more, be able to relate to, understand and have some sort of connection to your favourite band, whereas a music reviewer is just listening to the music and giving an opinion. You probably shouldn't ever be reading a professional review of your favourite band anyway.

The role of a professional reviewer is to write something up - hopefully positive, so that the band will get some sort of hype, sell more records. This is the reason bands send their cds to reviewers - reviewers don't just download it off the interwebs and listen and write about it. A professional reviewer is more trustworthy, has a better reputation and less biased then any forum poster - this is why you don't see quotes taken from forum user reviews on posters/album stickers/promotional fliers/whatever.

The album probably is about a 66 or less anyway in my opinion.

Also Dean, it would have taken me like ten less minutes to write this post if I didn't end up staring at your signature every five seconds. Am going to have to adblock it if you don't remove it . Nah, I fucking love it too much haha.
