http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/20101019/sc_livescience/endoftheearthpostponed I lol'd. I was never a remote believer in the world ending but I find it funny how overhyped this was (including a fucking movie) and now the end of the Mayan calendar may have been miscalculated? Haha.
This is nothing new. There are millions who have always contestest the interpretation of the Mayan Calander. I don't know if anything is going to happen in 2012 but I certainly don't believe it will be the end of the world. That said, with the more inventive and imaginatve ways we're coming up with to destroy each other, the end of the human race is unforunately inevitable. Do I think it will happen in my lifetime? No. Do I think it will happen in the next thousand years? Perhaps. Do I think there are some potentially world-wide changes on the horizon? Without a shadow of doubt.
It's not like it holds significance anyway. It's almost like looking at any old modern calendar and saying the world will end when that ends. It's just flim flam.
On the day that the world is "supposed to end" I'll be sitting on the beach with a cooler full of alcoholic drinks, and throwing a party when the world DOESNT end
edit: Wrong thread, meant for random thoughts. On the topic however, the I find it kinda funny, thats for sure. Never bought into any of the hype of course.
I'd rather throw the "We're all about to die" parties. Much more urgency, less thoughts on consequences. Everyone that goes to my "The world is ending oh god this is probably our last chance to party and have sex" party will come out happier, guaranteed.
There is supposed to be something in space where the sun causes radiation in close planets messing up our electronics. A solar storm is something.
Some guy on Sproul has a sign that says Judgment Day is on May 12, 2011 or something like that. I'm more inclined to believe him.
I think this is a load of bullshit. Judgement Day, 2012 whatever it is I do not believe in all of it, I did, but now I've come back into reality. Oh hia reality.
