Many people would agree that Hybrid Theory and Meteora are in a trilogy. The albums are so close you could call Meteora, Hybrid Theory II. Alot of us, actually most of us wouldn't want a third in the series, and if you add up all of the b-sides and unreleased tracks, you can form a third Hybrid Theory. I'm not sure if we would want another Minutes to Midnight, since many people felt that they strayed away from their music, but complimented the sound of other music acts, like U2 and Metallica. Now when it comes to A Thousand Suns, do we want another one? I can imagine a more cinematic albums with less political speeches and more instrumental music. I could picture another "Opening", "Wake", or "Jornada Del Muerto". I am a huge fan of the band's gutsy moves when it comes to changing their style, but, would we like another dose of A Thousand Suns?

I think it depends on your definition of A Thousand Suns. If you have labeled these particular songs and structures as "A Thousand Suns," then we probably wouldn't want another one because it'd be similar music, and it would create its own trilogy. However, if you consider A Thousand Suns to be the band venturing into a broader variety of instruments and utilization of those instruments, then I'm stoked for another effort like this one. As I said in another post, imagine a shamisen, a sitar, or even a didgeridoo on a LP track.

I think, if LP make another ATS, I won't mind but if they make part 3 of it, I will mind, a lot.
However, I'd rather have another kind, different album, different from ATS or anything they'd done.

I dont think of Meteora as a Ht part 2. I thought meteora was totally different with like BTH,FTI, and Numb. To me HT was a lot darker and heavier, and meteora was lighter with more electronics. For the next one I want them to go back to there original roots instead of experimenting. I think they have proved they can make any kind of sound and think for the next one they should focus more on something instead of playing with different sounds. Not try to make something completely different from all there other records but blend the old with the new. Bring back all the band members. Not a MTM where joe seemed dead, and ATS where brad is present but not a lot that you can hear

    I respect your opinion, but:
It is not that the band want to prove that they can make lots of things or difference things, it is about what the band enjoy, what they like and what they want.

How is Numb original? It's Pushing Me Away with different lyrics. Almost the same length too. And three "original tracks" out of 12 means 75 percent of the album was a rehash.

The band themselves said Meteora was just another Hybrid Theory...

Just as long as Chester's doing his own didgeridoo :awesome:

In all seriousness, I wouldn't mind another ATS at all. And "another ATS" being NOTHING like ATS or HT/HTII/MTM.

"A Thousand Suns" is awesome and all but I wouldn't want the band to create another album that sounds like that. Both "Minutes To Midnight" and "A Thousand Suns" feel like one-off's in terms of musical direction and I'd like the next album to differ greatly from both of them. How, I don't know. :"

    ATS, but with more guitar.
    Sorry to say it.

Buuuuut I dont don't mean distorted powerchords, I mean, nice clean, complex parts, a melodic solo or three. I don't care if it's in the background or not, but yeah.
I guess just combine the originally of ATS with the rawness of some of MTM...

I would like their next album to keep the concept-kind of feel in ATS, but not musically the same as it.
I don't like the idea of HT part 3 or 'Seconds to Midnight', I would prefer them doing brand new stuff!

    I have no fucking idea.
We just have to wait and see.

But it will probaly be nothing like HT. Or will it? i mean W&K has kinda the simmular sound to it... Hm... But still, i think the next album will take them places they been before, and places they never been before

A true sequel to A Thousand Suns will sound absolutely nothing like A Thousand Suns.

    True story.
