Somebody posted this over on LPMB. Apparently someone was auctioning off a super rare shopper CD when Linkin Park was Hybrid Theory, which was pretty much HTEP with this song. http://www.lpamerican.com/media/Linkin Park/Audio/Demo/She Couldn't.mp3 It sounds a lot like them, and the LPMB guy that usually knows his stuff made no mention of it being fake. Considering this is a guy who'll call you a shit-for-brains and drooling retard if you so much as get the bands tour schedule wrong, this really surprised me. It links to a site I've never been to called LPAmerican.com, but they apparently just ripped the clip from the ebay video when it was still up, so I'm not sure how or if you could actually add it to LPA, but there you go. So, insight? Anyone have a backstory? I'm kind of surprised this took 10 years to leak (if it's real).
Wow, that really does sound like Chester & Mike. No denying it. But whether this IS linkin Park or not remains to be seen. I swear I can hear another voice in there. Purhaps its a demo for a collaboration like with the "Handsome Boy Modeling School" ? Either that its one HELL of a fake xD
It's definitely Chester and Mike in that track. Can't mistake those voices. But there's a third voice in Mike's rapping. This is definitely worth investigating, it sounds really good.
I tried posting about this last night but it's nearly impossible to make a news post about a song we know absolutely nothing about. Until a few days ago, nobody even had a clue this song existed.
The clip sounds awesome...people need to investigate and get a full copy! EDIT: Jesus christ...someone's prepared to pay $1000 for it???? EDIT: Is it just me or does it sound a little like that 'In yourself' snippet they played live once? EDIT: It's certainly 'In Yourself' IMO.
I thought so. I'm really interested to see if we can get an MP3 of this...the first time I heard In Yourself I always thought it sounded really cool (besides Mike's ramblings over the live instrumental lol). Now that there's a possible full version out I really hope we can get hold of this. How weird though...it's taken 10-11 years for this to have a physical release.
She Couldn't >> In Yourself I'm still amazed that this is evidently real and that seemingly nobody knew about it until fairly recently.
I'm 99% sure it is 'In Yourself' so technically we did know about it just not enough. The thing that strikes me as much weirder is that there's an entire demo CD that no one has ever heard of before out there. That makes you think what else from this band could be out there that we don't know about. It might be worthwhile anyone who has something ultra-rare selling it though...the guy who sold this demo disc has gotten over a grand for it!
Chester's vocals have a tinge of Grey Dazeness to them. Love this, hopefully we can get the full track.
She had to go You know She couldn't stay here with you You know You're not alone No matter what You think you did wrong (They ain't know it that everybody know it?) She knew She had to go all along (They ain't know it that everybody know it?) No matter what You think you did wrong... ?? I can't make out what the other rapper says.
It's not Be Yourself. Different key, completely different bassline, and if they were the same song, why would Chester improvise the lyrics on Be Yourself? The third voice on She Couldn't is a sample from "B-Boy Document '99" by High & Mighty, it's a song from the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 soundtrack.
Taking those things into consideration you might be right but the tempo and groove of the song are almost the same, the drum pattern is quite similar and the snippet we're hearing is more than likely the chorus so key and bass don't necessarily have to be the same. Also since this was never released there's no reason why Chester would sing the complete lyrics anyway. I dunno though, I'm fairly sure the two are connected but until we have a full version of the song we won't know.
