Does anyone else know these guys? They're an indie pop duo from Columbus, Ohio that grew a devoted underground following through touring before signing with Fueled By Ramen and getting a top 10 Alternative hit with "Holding On To You"; how I discovered them. I gave their debut studio album "Vessel" a listen, and it is my favorite album of the year so far. I haven't got around to listening to their pre-"Vessel" albums, but I'm sure they're great too. Their sound can best be described as an indie Linkin Park to an extent as they mix rock, hip hop, electronica, and pop, but in a quirky way and no metal influence. They're lyrics are mostly about fighting anxiety and depression, which is juxtaposed with their poppy and upbeat sound.

    Their breakout hit.

    Their most meaningful/powerful song.

An example of how many of the songs on Vessel are structured.

So I did something I'd normally never do. That is, I listened to all three tracks even though it was the first time I heard of the band.

    Meh.

Just very interesting. I hate that balaclava, though.

Oh, so this guy can sing, too! Cool.

Anyway, this duo is just really unique. They're not something I'd listen to, but are definitely something I can respect. They sound like something adolescents - who like modern music, but are also not in the center of attention, and have had a hard time in their life - would like. Cool. :)

Well, thanks for taking a chance on them. :) Your summary of them is on point as their uniqueness is part of what make me love them so much. Plus, your last sentence is pretty true, as TWP have a surprising amount of hardcore fans among my age and scene (high school, alternative) for someone so new and relatively unknown. Interestingly, they're more talked about among my twitter followers and people I've met than similar and more famous bands, such as Foster The People or MGMT.
