Sorry it took so long. I guess it was a combination of laziness and being busy all week. Here are the final results of the voting, as well as some of my choices. Without further adieu..

THE BEST AND WORST OF 2004!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay, first off, I'm going to get the tiebreaker out of the way. The competition was fairly even for the most part, where others were completely destroyed.

    TIE-BREAKER: BEST

    Pop Album:
Avril Lavigne - Under My Skin

It seemed like Gwen was going to take it at the start, but your votes caused her to fight her way back to number one. Under My Skin was a very impressive album, and is the Best Pop Album of 2004!

    Emo Album:
The Used - In Love and Death

I don't know much about them, except that Bert McCraken is totally ripping off of Christian Lindskog of blindside.

    Hard Rock Album:
Chevelle - This Type of Thinking (Could Do Us In)

I've only heard Vitamin R off of it, but I could tell that this album definately had potential. This album will go far, I think, and that's probably why you voted it as the Best Hard Rock Album of 2004!

    TIE-BREAKER: WORST

    Hip-Hop/Rap Album:
    Nelly - Sweat/Suit

Was never a fan of rap. Can't say much about it.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Now, for a little recap.

Best Gothic Rock Album: Here's one that I originally forgot about after the first set of voting. I've never heard After Forever's Invisible Circles album, but it has won the award with flying colors. Congratualtions!

Best Mash-Up: This one was rather easy, and in fact, I removed the category before getting the final votes. Linkin Park and Jay-Z's Collision Course album stole this award thanks to your lack of imagination and knowledge of mash-up albums! Go you!

Worst Screamo Album: My Chemical Romance is probably screaming Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge against the person who voted for them. I suggest you run.

Worst Instrumental Album: Has anyone even heard of this album? In any case, the Sensation White 2004 album snagged this award with only one vote.

Worst Mash-Up Album: Wow. Just. Wow. You guys had an equal lack of imagination for this one, too, 'cause it looks like Linkin Park and Jay-Z's Collision Course stole this one, too.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

    New Artist
    breaking benjamin

You know what? I have no idea why these guys were on the list in the first place. They've released two album and an EP. They aren't new. I quit. I'm not doing this next year.

    Rerelease:
    Nirvana - With Lights Out

Ahh, everyone's favorite grunge band with the ever so overated Kurt Cobain. They weren't that bad, but, let the band die, dammit.

    Hip-Hop/Rap Album:
Linkin Park and Jay-Z - Collision Course

[See Best Mash-Up statement] .... [Without the lack of imagination part]

    R&B Album:
Alicia Keys - Diary of Alicia Keys

Can't really comment on this album because I've never heard it. I heard it was pretty good though.

    Screamo Album:
My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge

Once again, never heard this album or any of their stuff.

    Indie Rock Album:
Taking Back Sunday - Where You Want to Be

    See above.

    Punk Rock Album:
    Green Day - American Idiot

Finally, something I can comment on. It was a very interesting concept album, to say the least, but what did you expect from these guys? They've been around forever.

    Instrumental Album:
Buckethead - Cuckoo Clocks From Hell

Anything involving someone with a bucket on his head and a mask just has to make it a good album.

    Metal Album:
Slipknot - Volume 3: The Subliminal Verses

Okay, my stance when it comes to albums is to listen to it first, then judge it. I'm afraid I'm going to have to ignore it for now because Slipknot is horrible. They just plain suck, and I refuse to listen to them.

    Acoustic Album:
    Godsmack - The Other Side

I think I remember hearing one of the songs off of it on the radio a while back, and it actually wasn't that bad. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for acoustic songs. One or the other, I guess.

    Hybrid Album:
Avenged Sevenfold - Waking the Fallen

    Haven't heard them, so I can't comment.

    Single of the Year:
    Green Day - American Idiot

I've heard this song about a kajillion times and it still hasn't gone stale for me. An impressive song with an equally impressive album, American Idiot by Green Day is 2004's Single of the Year!

    Worst

    New Artist:
    JoJo

How old is she, like 14? This whole 'young pop star' thing needs to die about a quickly as Good Charlotte's music, if you can even call it that. A well deserved award for JoJo. Go you!

    Rerelease:
Britney Spears - My Perogative: Greatest Hits

We've all heard the songs at one point or another, and we hated them. We still do.

    R&B Album:
    Usher - Confessions

    YEEAAHHH!!! WHHAAATT??? OKAAAY!!

    Pop Album:
    Busted - Busted

Never heard them, and I'm thinking that's probably a good thing.

    Emo Album:
Good Charlotte - The Chronicles of Life and Death

Need I say more? I listened to the album on The Leak before it came out, and I was not impressed. Good Charlotte is still sucking, and still following the trends they tried to break away from.

    Punk Rock Album:
Simple Plan - Still Not Getting Any

Yeah, I think the title for the album says it all, because they still aren't getting any love from us.

    Hard Rock Album:
Good Charlotte - Chronicles of Life and Death

This is a testament to how much Good Charlotte sucks. They suck so much, they aren't even in the right category! Amazing!

    Metal Album:
    Drowning Pool - Desensitized

It doesn't matter who singing now, you can't call it Drowning Pool anymore. Stop tarnishing 'Drowning Pool' with your crap album and change the name of the band already.

    Album of the Year:
Jessica Simpson - Rejoyce: The Christmas Album

    One word: cliche.

    Single of the Year:
Ashlee Simpson - Peices of Me

It looks like Jessica's sister isn't getting much love, either. Let's see here, we have a reality show, an overplayed single, SNL, the Orange Bowl, what's next?

    Misc.

    Breakthrough Artist:
    My Chemical Romance

Okay, you MCR fans tell me why they were successful this year, because I don't know!

Most Annoying Song That You Wish You Could Cut Up Into Little Peices:
The Darkness - I Believe in a Thing Called Love

    I've heard worse.

    Most Controversial Artist:
    Eminem

Oh look! Eminem is in a category! Let's vote the crap out of him! Honestly, how Eminem beat Graahl is something I'll never understand. He was infinitely worse than Em.
