Don't worry about your car and be happy to still be one of us. Any insurance? Anyway, you can sell the car for spare parts, the front section looks ok.
Hope your shoulder heals ASAP! Yeah...the failing to maintain control sounds lame but what can you do? It's winter...
I'm no insurance adjuster, but I doubt there's any hope. First of all, he said the door is stuck shut. That's a sign of frame damage, which is usally insta-total on any car, regardless of other damage. Second, it looks like an old car, mid to late 90s I'm guessing? Altimas aren't too terribly expensive to begin with, so it probably isn't worth much, thus, totalling it. Anyways Casey, sorry to hear what happened I wrecked my first car 2 years ago, and I thought that sucked until I drove home from the dealer in a brand new car a few weeks later. If the same happens for you (or even a slightly used car) then you might almost be glad this happened.
It was a 2000 Altima. Cost $8000. We got close to a $10,000 check from the insurance company for the car. And yeah, the frame is totally bent.
Oh wow, you got a lot more than I would have expected. If you're looking for a new car, take that 10 grand to a Hyundai dealer and get an Accent. They're right around 10k new, you can probably get a base model for 9k if you're willing to drive a stick. I have a Hyundai, as well as my parents and sister, and they're great cars for the money.
Nah, the 10 grand isn't all mine. I only get around $4000 of it. Not bad for a 16 year old, I don't think.
