...#### EDIT: MTV mislead all us music fans once again by falsely reporting that Van Conner has joined the QOTSA. Damnit.
Wasn't that the guy who went to the VMAs in a dress? That's too bad, I kind of liked their music, but eh.. :\
Just because Nick Oliveri has left QOTSA, does that mean the band will split? They're getting a replacement anyway...
Incase any is confused... That's Nick Oliveri. EDIT Yeah, but the band has essentially been Oliveri and Homme and a revolving cast of characters. Granted, the others they have now have been dedicated, but Queens have ultimately been known to those in the music biz as Josh and Nick. Also, Mark Lanegan has reportedly left the group in order to work on his band's next album. Furthermore, MTV News has retracted their reporting of Van Conner being hired in Oliveri's place.
You know, this scenario reminds me of Ben Moody leaving Evanescence. The twhole two-man team and a revolving cast of instrumentalists thing.

Hehe... Sorry, the irrational Rancid fan in me just escaped. That must suck if you're a fan of the band...I'm sure they'll carry on though. Is Dave Grohl still playing drums with them?
read the topic? and yeah this sucks. Q.O.T.S.A is a great band [/b][/quote] umm nothing in that artical says they have completly split
Evanescence have always been about Amy Lee and Ben Moody but even though Ben's left, they've found themselves a replacement guitarist and the band are moving on. It's the same situation with QOTSA so why should they split completely?
because QOTSA isn't Evanescene. Oliveri won't stay split from the group very long. Oliveri & Hommes have played together longer than anyone in the band, if Oliveri doesn't come back, QOSTA WILL split. They're like a band with two brothers in it. It just can't work without the other. And no, Grohl only played drums on a few tracks on, "Songs For The Deaf".
QOTSA SPLIT? Josh kicks Nick Oliveri out of the band! 10 Feb 2004 Josh Homme has kicked Nick Oliveri out of Queens of the Stone Age, PlayLouder can exclusively report. Josh is fed up of Nick's partying, and has decided he doesn't want him in the band anymore. Also gone is occasional collaborator Mark Lanegan, also known for his acclaimed work with the Screaming Trees, and his own band, The Mark Lanegan Band. As Oliveri wasn't present on the first album, and Lannegan is only a recent collaborator, Josh Homme has the rights to their name. All of the players are working on seperate projects right now. A source said "it was their last tour in Australia that gave [Nick] the push, it was all out of control. But it's not hard to believe they are ready to split after 19 months of solid touring basically. That's rock and roll."
