Today, I was looking at the birthdays list...and I looked at the info of the members. These three members hadn't posted since last year, and I believe at least one of them hadn't even posted at all and had joined last year. These people obviously joined the board for no reason, or must have found it boring. My question is, what do you about these members? Do you just leave it be? Do you ever remove them from the board? I don't find it annoying or anything, but it seems pointless to say who's birthday it is today especially if the people don't post.
From what I've gathered. Keeping members on the server doesn't take up much space so there's no need to delete them
Yes.
Yes, it may not take up space but they are using up names that other people may want to have.
In that case, I'm sure they could choose another name and then ask one of us to change it for them in the future - then we might consider deleting the inactive account I don't actually know to be honest, but hey =P
Yes, it may not take up space but they are using up names that other people may want to have.
I've often deleted inactive member names for active members who want a name that's taken.
Even if people aren't posting much or at all, they can still have the chance to post later. I remember I signed up to get the MP3s and didn't post until months later. Plus, to reiterate, these unused accounts don't take up that much space.
I think you should remove members who have been inactive for a year. If they decide to pop around one day, well then they can make another account.
Then what would the members who feel like being nostalgic by coming onto the forums do when they find they've been deleted? And yes - some people do actually do that. Look in the front gate
I've often deleted inactive member names for active members who want a name that's taken.
I'm living proof.
