Some batterys have been known to fail after a time of 18 months but you can buy kits for them from 3rd party websites.

The battery on my laptop only lasted 2 years >_< ... thats life i guess

My battery has gone to #### already, its rechargeable so you have to let it run out before you charge it fully again. I learned this the hard way, alas, my battery is teh suck.
Say you download a new song (legal or illegal). You listen to it on ur computer. You'd then burn that onto a CD, then have to carry it around with your other CDs. If you waned to swap your music around on the bus or whatever you'd have to mess around with disks. And then remember which track number it was ect ect. CDs can also skip and scratch.

With the iPod, you download a new song (legal or illegal). You listen to it on ur computer. The track gets uploaded to your iPod automatically, not a single button to push. If you waned to swap your music around on the bus you'd just goto the main menu and browse your music by Artist, Genre ect ect which is generated by the MP3s ID tag.

Its just the perfect personal music player... nothing can come close to it!
I never really knew it could do all that actually. I thought it was just where you downloaded music and you listened to it through there, I didn't know you could trade music. And I never really thought about the no scratch thing...

note to self: beg parents for an ipod

iPod is teh shizzo. I just got a 20 gig for my birthday, and it's awesome!

I got mine for soo many reasons...

    - Backup my 900 songs i've downloaded
    - Backup all of my CD's (about 30 legal ones purchased by my family as a whole)
    - Backup important files on my harddrive
    - Have a sexy music HD player that I can show off.

MD players, CD/MP3 players...ehh...none of them match up against Apple's brainchildren (the iPod's). A bit pricy? Maybe...but...you get what you pay for...

edit: Did I mention it has GAMES?!?!
