heres my problem in a nut shell: i can only visit LPA. no other site will respond. its really strange. MSN wont work for me.. nothing will. apart from LPA any ideas anyone?
To say that's incredibly stange problem doesn't even begin to cover it really. Uhh, do you have any other devices on the same connection that are experiencing the same issue? Tried restarting your connection from My Network Places/Network (XP/Vista)? Firewall or Router configured to only let LPA through? I'm scraping the barrel here cause this is just odd.
Sounds like it might be an issue with your ISP's DNS server and the reason the LPA is working for you is because you recently visited the site, thus, your computer has the DNS info for our domain cached and doesn't need to look it up. It'll probably resolve itself soon.
thanks for your replies everyone i've left it over night and we have a little progress, however the major problem is still there i can still get on LPA with no hassles, and i can visit www.facebook.com, but i cant log in. same goes with a number of other sites (i couldnt do that last night). i can use 'google' and find site that i would like to visit and one of two things will happen.. either google does its search and i cant follow up the provided links. or it will actually let me visit them :s (i couldnt do that last night either). it seems to be just certain pages :/ does that make sense? any other ideas what it could be? im not very clever when it comes to computers so there might be a simple explanation for it, im not sure :/ when i run MSN and do the Trubleshoot it mentions some stuff to me that makes no sense (i've been able to upload these photos to photobucket 'cos it lets me, which is even stranger!) it says: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/JJ79/beforefix.jpg then after i run the repair http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/JJ79/afterfix.jpg i've tried system restore and nothing happens.. and no other programme has a fault with anything.. i've had a similar problem to this once before, but i was able to get onto MSN.. this was where my friend helped me out and sorted it for me. i cant connect to MSN this time so am i very grateful for your help thanks [edit]: its okay now - the problem seems to have fixed itself, thanks for your time and help
