Well, everytime I turn on my PC, the disc-control starts...right before it logs me into Windows. I'm wondering why it does that everytime?
And another thing, my PC makes this weird noise when I turn it on.

Could these things have anything to do with eachother? =/

Doesn't anyone know what that is? I dunno what it's called in english, though...it's this thing that comes up before you log into windows, it searches through all your drives for errors. This usually just comes up once a month or so.

    Hm...maybe it's called drive-control...meh, dunno.

yeah the BIOS is this "basic OS" that's built into your computer. it basically is turned on when you turn your computer, and it reads your C:\WINDOWS folder to boot Windows. I think the beep is normal on some older computers. not sure what disc control is though...

It's a blue screen with white text. And I'm not sure if it beeps or not. I never have the sound on when I turn on the PC.

@mcp: Disc control is that thing that "scans" all your drives for errors. Yeah, I think it's called BIOS, or whatever. For me, it never came on until about a month ago. Now it comes every day. So I'm not sure why...:p

I thought chkdsk was only run when the user wanted it to, through command prompt? hrm, guess I learned something today. I don't think my computer's ever done anything other than just starting windows when I turn it on.

It also runs whenever the computer is improperly shut down.

do you turn it off by going to start --> shut down or do you just hit the power button on the machine? I'm not sure if the latter is considered "improper"; my dad's always told me not to turn it off like that, so I never have.

    Yeah, that's improper.

And she apparently does shut down through the start menu.

I asked someone about this, and he said that it may be a sign that my harddrive is gonna take the shit soon. So what I'm gonna do is back up all my files, just for safety's sake, then just use it normally until it fucks (if it does that)...

If anyone has any other suggestion or idea of what might be wrong, please tell me.

@mcp: Uhm, I didn't understand most of what was in that thread, but thanks. =)
And yes, I do shut down my PC through the start menu every time.

    Thanks, though. =)

    ----

Note: The chkdsk only scans my D drive. It says that it's checking for "errors", but it never finds any.

Nope, haven't a clue. Hence why I'm not saying much in this topic. ;)
