Great game. It really is a must play. The FedEx missions get old and it does feel like you are grinding it out after halfway but it is something a gamer should experience. Until you get comfortable dismembering the enemies, it really does give you fear. I haven't had that gaming since I was a kid playing Resident Evil 2 when it came out. I hope the sequel expands on what made this game great and advances the gameplay even more. There is so much potential for a sequel so I hope they put their time into it.
Dead Space was a pleasant surprise. It's brutal and gory while maintaining a promising story. I read a lot of complaints the story was too cliché but it feels like it was an honest homage to the horror/sci-fi classics. The boss battles are amazingly epic (seriously, the first time I saw the Leviathan I was in awe) and the enemies are downright frightening on the harder difficulties. It really makes you feel like you're surviving as opposed to the easier modes that have more of a run-n-gun feel. Dismemberment is fun and disgusting at the same time. Although I hated stomping the limbs off every corpse I came across and wasting more ammo than necessary on dead infected corpses, I found myself not taking any chances that one of them might just spring to life and decapitate me. Just about every surprise Dead Space throws at Isaac is just awesome, actually. The only things that I didn’t like in Dead Space were the cannon missions and having to fire those easily-overheated-yet-terribly-underpowered-and-inaccurate cannons was frustrating and something I dreaded with every new playthrough. In general, I wish that the story were more stable. Between the game, the comics and the movie there are a lot of continuity errors that hurt its stability. I think it's a definite buy or at least the very least a rent. It's a shame it came out so close to the flood of triple A titles to hit the market because poor Dead Space hasn't seen my PS3 for a good couple of weeks now...
