It's not too often I go to the theatre to watch a movie, usually I download the damn things and save myself 10-15$, but last night a couple of friends wanted to go see a movie. So we saw Cursed. Big mistake. This movie was anything but scary. I almost got 'removed' from the theatre for laughing. Not only was it completely predictable as well as corny, the only time when I could think someone could be scared, is out of jump factor. Jump factor being when nothing much is happening, then something really loud jumps out. The previews, from what I've been told (I dont watch TV) are very misleading. It shows a guy walking on the ceiling etc etc. It's nothing like The Ring or The Grudge if you were expecting something of the sort. It's a movie about werewolves. Yep, you heard me, werewolves. Not only was the CGI terrible for the technology available, the camera work was overdone, giving a seemingly 'this movie cost a lot of money to make' feel. This was most likely the case, but the budget could have been put to a much better use. It seems as though 'horror' movies are going back to the old teen-horror genre which surrounded movies like 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and the 'Scream Trilogy'. This movie gets a 3/10, and if you're over 14, this isn't for you, it's just too predictable and corny. Not only that, it drags on with 'surprises' which are quite a waste of time.
Yeah I went to see it with my girl, and we both work at a movie theator, so we got in for free, but that still doesnt account for the 2 hours of my life it took. This movie was trash, a grade-A crap-fest. What did make the night worth it was right behind us, [we sit in the back] was this couple making out, i mean really going at it, so we made fun of them, got one of our usher friends to sit with them for awile, and so on, but yeah, the movie sucked.
The trailer looked horrible... and normally trailers show only the best parts of movies, so I knew it wasn't for me.
When an interview with a star includes the phrase "they took a 6 month break from filming to rewrite the script" you know the film is utterly crappy.
More like, dodged a cannonball. Edit That would explain it. He wrote the Scream movies and I think I Know What You Did Last Summer as well.
