Opeth - 'Demon of the Fall' (6:40) Why is this song so great? There is so much emotion put into that its hard to describe. The devilish sounds at the start precede one of the best riffs ever as well as the drumming by Lopez (i love the off-beat bass drum!), that create a violent mood that gives you an urge to mosh around! The Death Metal vocals of Akerfeldt are 'demonized' and they're pretty damn scary with lines like 'False love....turned to pure hate'. There is a clean electric guitar interlude, then one of the craziest most violent moments in thrash metal, with 32nd note double bass drums and screaming before the catchy chorus. The next verse is extremely heavy, and the death metal vocals and guitar riffs create this aura of pure evil. The ending however, is with mournful riffs, and beautiful clean vocals. The beautiful ending almost makes you forget that the rest of the song happened. Probably my favourite song of all time.....
