Hint: The topic of these lyrics is in the title. Enjoy. Benoit I am everything and nothing Worth the mention but not the thought Kept hostage by isolation By deception, my soul was bought Consequences for the greater good One kill saves the perfect life Preserved in the glory of it's last breath The second kill becomes the perfect lie Do you even know me, By more than just a name? My story carved in time My legacy enslaved I am the shadow of the limelight My presence, a mandatory fixture Glory defined by dragons slayed False idols scream from within a picture Pushed towards my own fate Scarred by shards of my reflection Nothing ever seemed more real Than the feeling of imperfection Do you even know me, By more than just a name? My story carved in time My legacy enslaved As I dive from a peak Overlooking the realest truth Knock me back into my world So I can once again see you Next to you I'll say goodnight By your bed I'll leave a prayer Heavens waiting around the bend I can only hope I'll see you there Do you even know me, By more than just a name? My story carved in time My legacy enslaved
I really like it, but I'm not quite sure what it's about. I googled the title and got some WWE wrestler who killed himself, so it might be about him.
Yeah basically the theme is about WWE wrestler Chris Benoit who was known as one of the nicest and most trusting people within the company and a role model to everyone. One day 2 1/2 years ago he, his son and his wife were found dead in Benoit's home. Chris Benoit had killed his wife and son (who had special needs problems), left a bible by each of them and then hung himself. No one knows why he did it but it's widely presumed he suffered a complete mental breakdown. These lyrics are a reflection of the Chris Benoit story and the mystery surrounding it but not necessarily about him...more inspired by the story and how you can think you really know someone (even without knowing them in person) but you never know what anguish they're facing behind closed doors. Thanks for the comments.
