For quite some time, I've wanted to see this 1990's film Awakenings starring Robert De Niro as a patient who has been "awakened" after 30 years of being catatonic (immobile, no movement) by Dr. Malcolm Sayer, played by Robin Williams.

These past few days in Psychology, we've done just that (watched the film, not wake patients) and I must say, this is going on my top 10 list. I truly never knew De Niro could be such a powerful dramatic actor. And Williams is great again, playing his good-hearted, quiet-power going against the rules (Dead Poets Society, Patch Adams).

The film recieved Academy nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor (De Niro) and Best Screenplay. I highly recommend you pick it up and give it a try, it's a heartbreaking story.
