I used to be a user of iTunes, mostly due to the fact it was uber easy to use, and great for organization (imo). Although, it had it's faults: no customization (without a hack), and it was quite the resource hog. Then one day it completely shit out on me, my 'database' just corrupted on me, so I would have to re-add all my music. You try re-adding ~17,000 songs, without falling asleep. Cons outweighed the pros, so what'd I do? Switch. I heard a lot of good about foobar, it was really customizable, and it was easy to add plugins, etc. It had a lot of functionality and potential. It could even play .ogg (and practically any other codec [providing someone's written a plugin for it, which is highly likely, by the looks of it]), I'd love to see Apple top that. What about my iPod? Don't I need iTunes? Nah, foobar has a plugin that can do it too, oh snap, Apple. So, I've added the most popular players, and I'm rather curious to hear everyone else's choice, and why you use it? This forum's been looking kind of dead lately, so I was hoping to spark some life into here, apart from the random tech questions which get boring after a while.
iTunes works perfectly for me. I used to just use Media Player but I just started to get tired of opening and closing the 'My Music' documents every 3 minutes.
I use WMP since it's really simple to use... with its built in library and all. I used to use Winamp before, but it really fucked up my PC.
I use Winamp. WMP annoys me and doesn't look as nice and i wouldn't even think of using the others. Aside from RealPlayer which i will watch some videos through sometimes when Winamp refuses to play them.
I did, but I never bothered to put all the songs in there manually and I just went to iTunes instead.
I've got Winamp. It doesn't take up a lot of resources while it's running, and it's got a decently compact size for my desktop. I don't need all the extra crap with it, either, like skins and all that shit. I've got it to play my music, and that's it.
Not to be rude, but you know iTunes and WMP basically have the exact same ways to import libraries? When you first run it you can scan, you can drag and drop, you can go to the options and select a folder, etc. iTunes is great too, though. I used to use it a lot, then I just switched to WMP when the new version came out... I like how it looks more.
I use iTunes, only because if my ipod. T don't like it much as its very slow, i'd be much happier to use a different program rather than itunes. Hey is that foobar thingo free? It sounds good.
I use iTunes and Winamp. Things open default in Winamp, and I use iTunes to organize and add things to my iPod. Alot of the time I use iTunes to play music, too.
iTunes organizes my stuff well, and it has nice features like smart playlists. Winam sucks, and WMP sometimes works wierdly, plus I use itunes for my ipod, so yeah. *votes for iTunes*
windows media player, because the library is super easy to use, when i use Itunes it makes me lag when i play online games but WMP doesnt, either does winamp but that doesnt have a good library function like WMP. plus ive been using it the longest so i don't want to go to another program and learn how to use THAT if its a completely different way of organizing
Always used Winamp. For years now. WMP is too cluttered and uses too much resources, iTunes is the same. Foobar is a little harder to navigate and realplayer is more for videos if you ask me, plus I use mediaplayerclassic for all my real media files. Winamp is probably the best. I use classic skin as well.
