    The Associated Press published an article today about 'A Thousand Suns.' In the article Mike, Chester, and co-producer Rick Rubin discuss about their impressions about what fans have said about the new album.

    To be honest, I think they're losing fans at a quicker rate than gaining.

    He said 'i think', purely opinion based I'm guessing?

    So Linkin Park have become the music equivalent of Maremite, You either love them or hate them and the band are ok with that. Perhaps good for concerts as only the real fans will turn up, i guess they like having a smaller audience than before, a more defined audience

    Oh no, a lot more then that. Facebook, YouTube, Myspace, Last.fm comments, the overwhelming amount of negativity online toward the record etc. I don't think they should lose fans, and I'm not preaching the album is bad (so lets not even go there), I'm just saying that to some degree it seems obvious, that the album has had a more negative reaction than positive.

    Yeah but most of the negative reaction had to do with people just wanting the old sound. Honestly, it's not a big deal if they lose fans. They'll gain some new ones and they'll always have a committed part of the fan base. What matters to them is what they think, and I appreciate that in a band.

    I'm only saying that just because I don't think losing fans is a big deal if it's for that reason? Nothing's wrong with your opinion. I'm just staying mine.

    I think it'd make more sense if it said "New sound comes with new fans ..."

    If you want to really get literal with it, you could make the case that they've been "losing fans" steadily with everything they've released post Hybrid Theory.

    Negativity is always louder than positivity. Sad but mostly true.

    But still the number of Facebook fans rises and rises, and silently crossed the 13 million mark ;)

    Well, the immature HT-Meteora age. It was an awesome interview. And it's so true: Their new sound with MTM brought me in at full circle after admiring HT and Meteora. And then did a WHOLE circle with ATS for me.

    Oh boy -.- now they have the power to want to control Dave.[/sarcasm]

    The whole world has always hated Linkin Park. This negative whiplash is nothing new at all. I'd be really surprised if they are losing more fanbase than gaining.

    Sadly, it's true. But I wouldn't really even care. Even if they become the laughing-stock of the whole universe, I'm sure we have tons of pride. I still love to boast that I love Linkin Park even when I get "Bleh" and "You have bad taste in music".
