That was kinda the point, so that they didn't have the verse chorus verse chorus bridge chorus (repeat) formula.

I'm not trying to hate on ATS but you have to admit some of the writing is bad on that to. Some of the song you can guess the next line. Like in waiting for the end(one of my faves), I think the verses were horribly written. Some of the songs sound like they didn't even re-write the lyrics they just kept what came to there mind first. Like " The Messenger" lyrics saying "when life leaves us bling, love keeps us kind" that is the corniest thing i have ever seen written, I think my 1st grade teacher use to tell us that. I had to question LP's writing ability after hearing that chorus.

Even so, it's probably a notch above "I wanna heal, I wanna feel, like I'm close to something real" and other lyrics they've written in the past, definitely not below them imo. And even then I think The Messenger is at least delivered well and that's what sells it. If it was Meteora-style, extremely polished unnecessarily layered vocals that song would probably bomb.

Oh yeah, I remember back when they wrote moving lyrics like that. Now they can't write worth a damn.
