I've been listening to Avenged Sevenfold for a while now, espically their new album "Nightmare". They have some really good albums out and I would definately love to see them live. It's a shame that "The Rev" passed but Mike Portnoy is doing a good job taking over his part. Tell me what you think about them.
Oh FUCK YES. One of my top 5 bands. I love these guys to death, all of their albums have kicked tremendous amounts of ass. And they are one of the greatest live bands you'll ever see. I saw them a little over a year ago, amazing show, one of my favorites. I'm seeing them again at Uproar in just 4 days, incredibly excited. Nightmare is a great album.
I saw them live for the first time last night and my god, that is like a religious experience. They opened with Nightmare (perfect opener) and they played the song for The Rev with a giant backdrop of him in the background. It was beautiful.
^: Wow, your GF like A7X What can be better than a GF who like A7X or Korn not Justin Bieber or Jonas Sister XD Btw, I like A7X, just like, not love. Their songs are really amazing, I don't like the vocal though.
I love A7X. And I just now realized they're doing a concert in Sacramento in September! Hopefully I can afford it. I've seen them live once before, but the crowd had zero energy so it really took away from the experience,
On every A7X thread - Being a person who doesn't listen to a lot of heavy music, this band somehow aligns with my taste. I've pretty much enjoyed all of their albums. The last one, Nightmares, really impressed and surprised me. Never thought they could bounce back this hard after Rev's death.
They are definitely in my top 3 favourite bands, I just love them! I was gutted when The Rev died but the band have done him proud with the new album, which is my favourite of the year (so far!). So emotional and powerful. I'm going to see them at the end of October when they do their co-headline tour with Stone Sour. Seriously cannot wait! and less than two weeks before I see LP!
I hated Nightmare. The self titled, city Of Evil and select tracks from the first albums are pretty awesome too (e. I won't See You Tonight)
I love how people are like "Mikes doing a good job taking over the Rev." As much as I like Avenged Sevenfold it's not like the Rev was the be all to end all. Mike on the other hand is a world class progressive/heavy metal drummer whose been doing it for almost 2 decades. So yes he would great at filling the part for Rev.
A7X are a talented band, M. Shadows is a good vocalist, Gates is a very talented player (although his solos are not creative enough) and Vengeance and Christ are okay (RIP the Rev), but generally speaking, their songwriting isn't that good. I really disliked Nightmare, it was monotonous. "Waking the Fallen" is their best album.
I never got the appeal to this band. I like M Shadows as a singer, but I don't like the musicianship of the band at all.
M shadow is amazing, and the guitars on there album are pretty good. Have heard many of there songs(never a full album though) But they are one of my favourite Metal bands for sure
I've said it before, and I'll say it numerous times again. Seize The Day + the video clip, is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard.
I could never get into this band. Every song I hear from them sounds like an older, better band. It's like "okay, this sounds like Iron Maiden... This is Metallica right here... Iron Maiden guitar harmony." They are talented musicians, but they lack a personal sound.
Used to listen to them back in the days and I got the self-titled album. Good band, too bad Matt's voice is crushed, cause the first 2 albums stay the best
When I first heard them (City Of Evil days) I didnt really care for them. My friend took me to a concert of theirs in Sanjose California and it was the best concert I have ever been to. Ever since then, ive become a pretty big fan. Next to Linkin Park, they are my most played music on my Ipod. Mikes voice is unique and the riffs are killer. Im a fan
