Compare Reagan to the others in the video... which of these sounds patriotic, which speaks positively about the US, and which sounds inspiring? And which one sounds childish, anti-American, and authoritarian?
The American spirit and ideology is not different from Europe, at least not as much as you think it is. And you're delusional if you think the American system is centered around freedom and rights of the individual more than any other country in the world. Go to Scandinavian countries, Switzerland or Netherlands and then you will realise what freedom is. And seems like you are not aware that the credit crunch and economic crisis in the world started from US. US's willingness to defend freedom? You mean all the blood of innocent people that's been spilled in Iraq and Afghanistan and previously Vietnam, and hundreds of thousands of civilians that burnt in Nagasaki and Hiroshima all were for the sake of defending freedom? You're just another guy who thinks USA is the world with no specific knowledge about history or any respect for other nations whatsoever, no point in having a debate with you. Good thing is, the majority of American people are much more intelligent than that and didn't have the same opinions as yours and voted for Obama, and thank Goodness for that.
You are aware any, and I mean any video can be edited to make someone sound like a saint or a devil right?
I don't get why people are so hung up on Reagan. He was a good President, a great man -- don't get me wrong -- but he wasn't the end-all-be-all, and a Republican doesn't have to emulate him to be a great President or a great candidate. I hate it when people ask Presidential candidates (of the Republican party), "what makes you like Ronald Reagan?" Does it really matter? Hell, Reaganomics are utterly stupid, as most economists will attest to. Trickle down doesn't work. So, yes, while he was a great guy and a good President, people need to stop declaring that to be a good member of the Republican party you have to emulate him. @ Derek: Yeah, that's what I meant -- McCain, in my opinion, was the best candidate in the 2004 election. Bush just killed him when the whole (erroneous) rumors of him fathering a black child out of wedlock came about. He was like that at the start of the 2008 election, but he tried to pander too much to the conservative group of Republicans for their large amount of votes. I still like his ideas, though, and think he's a great, classy politician.
My job is completely related to politics, and I have been dealing with politicians for nearly 6 years. I can honestly tell you a politician is a liar, although I wouldn't blame them that much, it's hard to survive in the world of politicis without lying.
I guess I meant to say or at least add that there's a difference between being flat out dishonest and evil like that, and the sort of pragmatic lying and spin where its existence is kind of a moot point whether you like it or not. But yeah, there are still people with honest intentions and principles in politics in any case, and while the amount of them is debatable I can say that whether or not I have a job in politics myself.
That's exactly the point, some of them are honest people who have to do dishonest jobs, hence why I said politics defy honesty.
Reagan's demeanor and his love for this country were what made him so special. Every time he spoke he lifted up the American people, much like FDR. I don't like FDR's domestic policy, or the fact that he pulled off the most blatantly unconstitutional act any US president has ever done (imprisoning hundreds of thousands of Japanese Americans, many citizens), but the one thing I love about FDR is the way he spoke up the American spirit during World War 2. Reagan did the same thing. Reagan's speeches make you want to love this country and love its values. Obama's either make you want to kill yourself (if you're a conservative) or become a community organizer nutjob working for ACORN and Organizing for America (if you're a drone)... Reagan raised the American spirit and never stopped complimenting America, Obama does the EXACT opposite. The guy can't make it through 2 minutes of a speech without bashing America in some way, shape, or form.
Reagan was a well-known actor, of course he was a good speaker and good at communicating with the public. Obama's main problem is he won't stop blaming everything on the previous administration, which the public is started to get tired of. At the beginning of his presidency, sure, he could get by with saying that stuff. But now? People are just tired of it and want results. But every president we've had has loved our country, I'm not sure how you could claim otherwise.
It wasn't FDRs fault that people misunderstood what Executive Order 9066 was all about. Nowhere in the Order directly said Japanese Americans. Its just after the attack on Pearl Harbor, many Americans panicked, and so when the Order was out to get anyone who was a threat to the country, the Military, not FDR, interpreted that "threat" as Japanese Americans. Please read this for further insight.
You ever heard Obama give a speech talking up the American spirit? NO. He talks up for nutjob leftists' spirits, he speaks of "Change", but he NEVER praises how wonderful this country is and how we are truly the greatest bastion of freedom in the entire world. He constantly bashes the free market, undermines states' rights, undermines the efforts to protect our border, gives more focus on how we can kiss our enemies' asses than how we can defeat them... His rhetoric towards this country is that of an outsider and a revolutionary, not a temporary servant (which is exactly what the President is).
As President, he allowed it to happen. And the Japanese part isn't even the part that matters to me. The Citizens part is what matters. He violated the rights of citizens protected under the Constitution, as a good number of the detainees were American-born.
And another reason I despise Obama is he has taken NASA and transformed it from a space agency into just another arm of the Enviro-facist Left. Anybody see that story about the "smart" recycling bins in Cleveland, that used up millions of dollars in "stimulus" money? LOL... And they can tell if you don't recycle something, and automatically fine you??? Can you say BIG BROTHER??? Not only is this a complete waste of money, it's an incredible infringement on liberty and privacy and just another attack on those perpetrated by the enviro-facists on the Left. They will not rest until they control, tax, and regulate every aspect of our lives on the aspects of wealth as well as "carbon output". Gimme a break!!! I don't hate the environment, I believe in protecting it. But this is absolutely ridiculous, just like the entire environmental agenda is. Levin is a true American patriot, one of the shining voices on the Right standing up to this oppressive regime. Limbaugh and Hannity are friggin morons with no education and zero brains, Mark Levin and Michael Savage are the true geniuses of the Conservative Media. Those two are brilliant and inspiring.
As I said this before, people panicked and misinterpreted what was meant to be an Order to get rid of a threat (kind of like with Bush's whole crap with the Patriot Act). Now, don't get me wrong, FDR shouldn't have let anything be misinterpreted as far as what was supposed to happen with 9066, but it did indeed happen, and we cannot change that, since time travel is both non-existent and impossible. And the Japanese Americans were able to get over it.
There's nothing wrong with making people recycle... If you think raping our planet for future generations is a right, then you've got issues. We have reesponsibilities to our children/grandchildren.
We can go into it if you like, I kinda cbf right now, but it's not hoax. My university degree (which admittedly I haven't yet completed) is largely based around the studies into climate change, and it's far from a hoax. And even if it is, non-renewable energy sources are just that, non-renewable. We're fucked no matter what if we keep going how we're going.
