exactly what I've been thinking of while reading this thread, but the problem with A.06 is yes it's an amazing song in itself, but then it left me with a bad taste in my mouth that craved it to be a longer song with vocals and such. it's going to come down to each person's personal opinion, but I know what you're trying to say.

While they never put vocals to it, (excluding a Chester scream when they performed it live), A.06 was turned into a much longer song (or originally was, can't remember), as heard on the LPU9 CD.

The second that ATS comes out, people can all have their opinions. I'm saying that it's stupid to already hate on the interludes and call them "fillers" when nobody's even heard them yet. If people hear the interludes and then decide to think they're filler songs then by all means, share your opinion. The "point" is that you can't freak out that these songs will suck just because they're short. As Cookie Monster pointed out, A.06 is short and is a great song.

I don't mind short tracks. Actually, I like those kinds of things: interludes, intros, lead ins. It keeps the album a unified piece of work, and not just a collection of songs.

By the same token, other members shouldn't assume they won't be crap, yet they are assuming they won't be crap and will actually add something to the album.

It's all speculation and people have a right to speculate no matter their opinion. What's the harm?

Read what you posted and I disagree. Cause whole genre of post-rock for example features no vocals what so ever, yet you get releases with songs, and wouldn't go with this discussion to more underground musical directions which do not follow any of these patterns. So forget the wikipedia...

I have no reason whatsoever to back this up but I have a feeling that Iridescent will be the best track on the album... just such a cool name

Sorry, but if someone is going to start trying to "educate" me on what anything is, that comes off as arrogant, and i take MUCH offense to that. But instead of letting my post be, you decided to get in, and try to prove your "knowledge" and get me down, and let alone, try to prove your point with Wikipedia, which is the LEAST credible site you can try to prove anything with.

....Let it be, let it be, let it be, let it be!

Edit: By the way... using wikipedia was an epic fail. The last sentence reads "Songs do not certanly contain vocal music, songs can include only instrumental music as well." So Ntr\Mssion IS a song. Oh wait, this is wikipedia we're talking about. ^_^

Definition of 'song' according to the OED
Definition of 'song' according to Merriam-Webster
Definition of 'song' according to Chambers

Their definitions are very similar to Wikipedia's

For good measure, here's RationalWiki's article on Wikipedia.

Yeah, but thats not exactly the point. Even if they are similar, Wikipedia has a poor track record when it comes to giving out legitimate information (because of being editable) and other sources could've clearly been used to try to prove a point.

Yep. You do have to keep in mind that anyone can edit Wikipedia pages.

No, it's precisely the point. Read the last link.

Simple logic. Obviously it shouldn't be used as a be-all and end-all but you can do worse as a basic starting point, and dismissing something off-hand just because it came from there is silly.

Even so. it's still a dick move to try and tell me that I dont know what a "song" is, and try to further "educate" me otherwise. This isn't the first time someone has tried to prove my post "wrong" by trying to rub any knowledge in my face (not talking about your previous post) in here, and it comes off as disrespectful and uncalled for.

Mike just said on VIVA (German TV station) that NoBrain also worked with them on 'When They Come for Me'.
