To be honest, this means nothing. The figures are really not that great. Radio stations are playing it because it's the new LP song, based on LP reputation. What matters are the sales figures and right now they look pretty poor. It's doing pretty badly on itunes. It's not even in the top 10 in any country. http://www.apple.com/euro/itunes/charts/top10songs.html People may be hearing it on the radio, but they are certainly not buying the song. They are on the Alternative charts only, but they don't feature in the top 10 overall and they don't even chart on obscure alternative charts in some countries. At the moment the song is absolutely bombing. They these need to hurry up with the video.

The song isn't played at all on French radio. I've looked their song historic, and today they've only played one LP song so far, and it was New Divide... I hope it will change with the video but I'm affraid (french) radios don't think The Catalyst is radio-friendly enough.

The song was on position 7 or 8 in the German Itunes Charts. I guess the charts are updated daily? Figures are more important, what if all people downloaded The Catalyst 1 Million times on the first day ;-) (of course that number is hilarious^^). I also think the song isn´t even available for example in UK, so i don´t know about other countries. But i am really interested in some download figures.

There is virtually no market for singles in the States. The industry kind of killed that one here. I mean, look at where LP releases their B-Sides. Is it the US? Nope. And c'mon, I know it's been said before, but illegal downloads. I'm not pointing fingers at any one, but a casual listener is less likely to buy a single than someone who is already a fan. We can't tell how well ATS is gonna do until it does it. The numbers are interesting, but really say nothing about how good a record is. They have never have and they never will.
Exactly. Personally i think it's the industries fault in why things aren't seeling like they used to... NOT the consumer. Take the UK for example: why on earth is iTunes UK waiting till the 26 to release the catalyst? Show me an average LP fan that can possbily stand to wait that long to download it while they know they could easily hunt it down and get it for free on the world wide web. And the music industry wonders why things are going this way? Its the digital age. There are no restrictions in getting something out in the public now. If they can play it on the radio, why not have it on iTunes? :angry: End Rant.
You are right but I think we need to accept the fact that this single won't be another What I've Done. That's fine by me. I'm sure ATS will debut at #1. Whether people like it or not remains to be seen. All I care is that I like it.
