The Catalyst: Chorus Clip

I thought "lift me up" was the bridge...so far I'm iffy on the guitar, but I'm playing these clips alot because its friggin intriguing

 

I was thinking along similar lines it would sounds great live!

W O W. That's horrible. Sounds like a badly made contest entry. I honestly couldn't understand how anyone would get excited over this. Hot garbage.

Okay, i'm just going to forget about this song and just wait for the album to come out hoping it is completely different than this one song.

Awesome, gonna see Mike sing more live. I guess it's his answer to all the people wanting him to sing NRL live.

That's how I felt after the first 30 second snippet. Listening to it multiple times has led to me liking the track a lot more than I did, but I'm still not incredibly excited about it. I have a feeling it'll suffer from "lead single syndrome."

I don't know how much you've listened to the other clips, but maybe you should try listening to them a few more times? Worked for me.

 

The structure of the song itself sounds like what's been around in mainstream radio. The transition from Chesters heavy part to Mike's subtle part reminds me of that Jason Derulo - Whatcha Say which sampled off the song "Hide and Seek" (which at the near end of the song has this). And I can't be the only that didn't feel like Mike sounded like he was gonna auto-tune lol. Of course we know Mike is a bit more intelligent than that .

Just saying, sounds poppish to me. Nothing insanely new or out of the ordinary and expected from the blend masters known as Linkin Park.

On a side note -

It is a hell of an improvement from their previous act, but I still think they are a bit off on bringing out their raw power from before. Again this is all based on the clips i've heard so far, but the verdict will be decided once the album is out.

 

I wont listen to anymore snippet parts, but i like reading peoples reaction, is it any good?

Trust me man I'm trying to let this song grow on me but damn is it hard. Glad to see a neutral fan on here who can understand but seriously i'm not liking this at all man. On other music forums I go to people are sharing the same feelings, I suppose since well I mean this is indeed an LP forum there are going to be biased responses and whatnot.

But yeah I just don't see it... I'm really hoping this is just the kind of song I'd skip over on CD whether it was a single or not. I'm really hoping the other songs sound nothing like this.

I have a strong feeling 75% of them will sound like this. This song tells a strong tale of their craft from MTM sprinkled in with Hybrid Theory, I see more MTM vibe though than the HT vibe. This will continue to happen as long as they seek direction from the likes of Rick Rubin, instead of doing it themselves as they did back in the EP / HT / RE days.

 

No offense but I remember people saying this circa MTM and it never happened. But that would be awesome if you could prove me wrong
