Seriously, I can already imagine this song and its structure. It starts off light and progressively builds some speed and maybe towards the end we'll have some guitar riffs and solos and it will end with the piano and outro drums. Anyway, it's already very diverse and there are different moods to it. And I highly doubt Chester's part from the acapella stems is the chorus. Actually, I highly doubt there IS a chorus. Fuck yeah, this is what I've been waiting for! Those Youtubers can go and listen to Korn's new album, because this is the new LP. :p Bring it on, man!

I think the idea of going chorus free will remove some artistic constraints on them. It might also remove from us the idea that a good song is that which is easily turned into a ringtone.

This is pretty much what I expected. I think in the context of the whole song it'll be better. This snippet on its own is not fantastic, I agree.

I think "God bless us...." is definitely the chorus. You can have a chorus with variation in the lyrics.

I do think the instrumental is not as good as the lift me up one. BTW, Mike's part is amazing.

I'm flattered man. Thanks. But really, this is just about the album, you know? I remember being very upset about Reanimation ruining all of my favorite melodies from Hybrid Theory (Seriously, then In The End melody is just top notch) and so reanimation bothered me — until I sat down and gave it a real chance. I suspect, for a lot of people, this album is going to challenge their musical tastes and drag them by their ankles into a new musical reality where you are either an artist or you are cashing in on a pop sound. Linkin Park never, ever, cashed in on a pop sound which is why we loved them from the start —*they were unique and special to us. Let's not decry them for continuing to be that.

Perhaps my ears need tuned but are those strings I hear in the background?

    Yikes, double post!

    /mod

And I think you're hearing either the organ keyboard part that was provided for the contest, or maybe the synths? Let me listen again and see if I can hear what you're hearing.

EDIT: Yeah, definitely don't hear any strings. As far as I can tell there's only the vocals, the electro-drum part, the keyboard organ part, the cool little synth, and the bass tone.

I love how everyone hates LP because of M2M. They didn't bother to give it a listen, they judged the singles. The LP fans just didn't like it because of the whole "change". It wasn't a change, just LP evolving out of their Chrysalis, and this album is GOING to be them turning into the beautiful band they were meant to be.

Hey adam.posey, make sure not to double-post. Just letting you know. ;)

And I think those might be strings but I'm not certain.

They are going to start a revolution. Break the normal way of writing music. They are actually breaking the habit, if i'd say.

I've been checking things out at this forum for a while and I decided to finally show my presence haha.

I don't know about you guys, but I have that electronic (or trance, techno, dance, whatever you feel like calling it) beat starting after Chester finishes singing "sky" stuck in my head.

That was my bad. I realized what I'd done after I clicked the button, I've become so used to threaded Facebook style commenting systems where you can reply to 5 things and not break the chain. I'll be more mindful in the future.

I think I am hearing the organ. To my ears it almost sounds like distorted strings. Something about the composition makes me think that they're strings that have been digitally modified... but I don't claim to have an ear for these things.

  17. New sound to LP?? I'll simply state... BRING. IT. ON.

Hardcore fan since HT...and I'll be supportive of any style change in their music. Their music is great and they themselves are great. While some tunes may not be favored by all, you know there will be something on this album for all types of LP fans. Plus it's just a 30-second clip...I've learned from good ol' iTunes, 30 second clips don't do a song justice. Can't wait to hear the song in its entirety.

Hold on to your pants everyone...I think we are on the brink of something epic.

Ha ha, yeah I know what you mean.

I'm waiting for the LPA to put "Like" functions on posts. (Glares at Derek)

Even they make some more HT, there will be some people saying "you are making the same music for three times." And now they are changing their style, there are still saying "Bring me back HT." You can't please everyone at a time.

There was definitely no organ keyboard part provided in the contest. There was a piano, a synth swell (with I think chester vocalizing mixed in), two drum tracks and a vocal track.

I'm sure he's referring to the part that begins right as the louder beat does. It's a synth sound, vaguely organ-ish but was not in the samples provided.
