Oh dear... I really, really want that box set. But I'm never going to be able to pay for it >.<

Maybe I should sell my Sounds of the Universe box set and then get this... *SLAP!* HOW COULD I SAY THAT?!

Funnily enough, LP are probably the only band that I'd spend that much on...if I had more money to throw away lol.

why they chose to have different artwork for different deals? doesnt that mean MORE $$$ for the SAME things for the band or Warner Bros. ?

The Deluxe sounds soooo great. But I don't think I would want to spend $100 on an album whn I have no use for the vynil at all. I'll probably just order the CD/DVD slipcase.

I'm just going to quickly step in here and defend the band before people start thinking that this is LP being controlled by Warner, or a ploy by LP to get more $$$.

The reason why LP is doing this is because of the fact that Merchandise/Touring is the only way a band can actually make a profit or make a living off of the music they make. Artists get stiffed all the time with profits from albums sales, and usually will not see a fair profit till the album has gone several times platinum, because the record labels and the people connected to them get the majority of the profit.

That's why you'll see LP partnering up with Monster, or doing things like what you see here, because it's the only way the band can truly make money or profit as an artist as advertising/touring/merch profits go mostly to the band.

While you guys might listen to this band for entertainment, the band records music as a career...and you can't have a career or a job without pay. It's not greed...it's called making a living.

Getting it off their website is worth it because of the free mp3 versions you get right away. Also, for the pre-sale tickets. Very awesome.

Quick question. Does anyone know if your credit card is charged right away, or is it not charged until the album is released?

    Derek FTW

Plus it's nice to know which ever version of the album you get will be unique in it's on way. Example would be why would I want the $100 set when the CD/DVD set looks almost the same. It's called good marketing. LP got to eat!

Exactly sir. People complain that bands sell out and have all the money they could ever want. No. They need to allocate their resources in an efficient manner tomake money, just like how the Chip wagon chooses to park his hat next to the transit station. LP's success is not only a part of the band's identity; its a part of their career. They put varying extras and static gifts into the deals to differentiate each package when you buy it directly from the site with hopes to draw people in and make dough early. Bands need to have consistent income and profit to stay alive in the business; just like uncle fred, the chip wagon owner.

Hey, im not the only one that like's the soapbox opportunity.
