Biggest mindfuck of a movie I've seen in forever.

Have you seen it? If so, discuss. If not, GO NOW.

Yeah, I've been looking forward to this for a couple years now. Ever since it was announced. Nolan has been my favourite Director since Memento, which is probably my favourite film ever, so I was definitely excited to see this as it was his first film he had sole control over since Following, which basically means it wasn't inspired by a short story, book, movie short or anything of that nature. It was all written by him, so I was excited.

The movie itself was amazing, it was everything I expected it to be and more, and I was definitely pleased with the experience. The characters & the story is what drives the film much like every Nolan film, and it was really rewarding to sit through the whole thing from start to finish. I don't really want to go into the film too much right now, as I think it was pretty understandable, but I'd love to see it again and I'm sure I will be in the next day or so.

The only let down was the stupid people in the audience who went in not knowing what they were letting themselves in for, and just talked the whole way through it because they were too dumb to get the concept. Please stay at home if you don't want to think. I don't understand people who go to see a Nolan film and expect to understand what is happening until the very end. I suppose the trailers made it to look like an action film, and maybe people aren't familiar with Nolan that much, but it's still rude to talk during the whole fucking thing. Anyway. The movie was amazing and best thing I've seen at the cinema since The Dark Knight.

Joe. I'm sort of disappointed. I came in here expecting spoilers and the only thing I got was that it's an amazing film. Which is pretty much completely obvious since Nolan wrote it and it isn't based on anything other than his own mind.

I agree though I absolutely HATE when people are talking during a movie. I've gotten some mean looks when I've asked people to be quiet before and I'll probably get my ass kicked for it some day but what is more rude, going into a movie you know you're not smart enough to understand and asking questions to other people who understand even less than you do while distracting people from paying attention OR asking those same people to just be the hell quiet. It's kind of messed up when they make you out to be the victim.

Also spoilers away! I love to read spoilers because they make me even more excited to see a movie. Watching it play out on screen and reading text are two vastly different experiences for me. Just like Lost, the ending felt drastically different from script pages to screen..

Dude, I'm sure there are hundreds of spoilers and synopsis' out there. You could probably go and read the Inception Wikipedia page if you want them that badly.

Personally, I don't understand why anybody would want to spoil anything. I hate spoilers in regards to anything. I find it really frustrating hearing anybody's review, synopsis or thoughts based on something I've been waiting to see for a long time. I don't get why anybody would want to hear some third rate jobber spoil something in their words, than to experience it in it's absolute state, the way it was intended, but that's just me.

My internet is working to wonky to actually try to navigate through any pages right now. I'm hardly able to get LPA or LPL or Facebook to load so that's sort of out of the question.

As for spoilers, they don't "spoil" me and thus cease to be "spoilers" Think of it this way, why would anyone want to watch a movie that is 100% faithful to a book that is based off of? I mean they already know what's going to happen, but yet people complain and complain about that sort of thing.

Think of it like this, take the upcoming cowboy bebop movie for example. Everyone who has watched the anime knows how it's going to end yet they still get into a fuss about it. If it's the exact as the anime they will argue that it's kind of useless to watch. If it is a little different from they anime they will argue that it isn't faithful enough. When I read "spoilers" I'm not spoiling anything at all because it feels just the same as reading a book and seeing it played out on screen. Saying that it's useless to watch a movie that you already know what's going to happen is just silly, do you think script writers don't watch the movie they wrote? It might not be how they imagined it at all since most of the time they do not direct it, or edit it and movies are basically MADE during the editing process by the editor (who is usually the person to blame if the movie sucks). Also script changes are aplenty in many movies. It's not just "Here's a script, this is how it's going to go okay?" I love to read the scripts of movies also just to see how different it was to the final product. I can understand why people don't read spoilers though, but for me, honestly it's not spoiling at all.

The only time I HATE spoilers is when people tell me something I did NOT ask about. That gets on my fucking nerves.

But if I decide to read it. There are no spoilers. :)

I wouldnt say it was a mindfuck, but certainly captivating and intriguing. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to end, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

The spoil anything, actually, would to discuss the story

Has to be one of the best films out this year, or top 5 of the year.

Well it's obviously different if it is based on a book, or some other type of medium, or you have had a hand in creating it. Then obviously it is probably expected on how it will turn out, but concerning something that doesn't involve those things I'd rather not know. As for script reading, I'd rather read them after I've seen the final version. I really don't want to go into something with an idea of how I may possibly feel or what I may possibly expect if I have the choice. I love looking back afterwards though to see what may have changed from the final version.

This is, without a doubt, the greatest movie I have ever seen. And I am not one of those people that say that about every good movie. This was the perfect film. Christopher Nolan is a goddamn genius. Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are superb actors. Everything was brilliant.

An amazing movie with an amazing cast. Leonardo DiCaprio continues to amaze after his latest string of films, The Departed, Blood Diamond, and Shutter Island. Ellen Page was stunning and noteworthy. Ken Watanabe (sp?) was great, as was the guy who played Arthur. The story was startlingly original and NO parts of the movie were bulky, they all fit in perfectly and not one minute of the movie dragged. At 2 1/2 hours, that is a feat unto itself.

Great film. It was really sick. There is nothing confusing about the plot which I heard was a major complaint about the film. It was really really awesome and is my favorite film of the year thus far. That ending...was serious the best ending I've seen in awhile

    SPOILERS...

I liked the movie, but I think it's slightly overrated. People are really overplaying the complexity of the storyline. It does require you to pay attention, absolutely, but it's really not that hard to comprehend. The general storyline was good, too, don't get me wrong, but a lot of it just seemed unnecessary. I've read where it's been stated that DiCaprio had Nolan add more scenes with Mal and flesh that part out, which would make sense to me, because I thought that part of the movie seemed tacked on at times. It really beat you over the head with that aspect of the film instead of being a big "gotcha!" moment that it should have been.

There was a bit too much time explaining how the concept of the film worked too, when it really shouldn't have taken so long to expound upon. Furthermore, some things really bothered me with the script. Nolan used a lot of cheap writing techniques -- like inventing a solution to a problem he's written instead of creating an actual solution. There's a writing term for it, but I can't recall it at the moment (I was a journalism major). For example, like Cobb not being allowed back in America, but writing that Saito is so wealthy that he can make a call and it's all fixed. That made it hard for me to suspend my disbelief, which is ironic, since the thing that you'd think would be hardest to suspend my disbelief for -- the dreaming aspect of the storyline -- was actually the easiest thing. I suppose that's to help blend into the ambiguous aspect of the movie (as Mal mentioned at one point, how is a reality in which Cobb is a fugitive and making these wild chases and impossible situations a true reality?), but it just wasn't handled in a believable aspect (IMO).

I was also fairly letdown with DiCaprio and JGL's acting given what they're capable of. It just seemed so forced at times, which is a shame.

As someone who's in the same boat as Joe -- looking forward to this movie since it was first rumored and announced, and being a Nolan fan since he released Memento -- I'm somewhat letdown, as I was with "The Prestige." It's still a good movie, to be fair, but I was just expecting something a bit more refined (I know that sounds wishy washy, but it's hard to explain). I'm sure this seems like a "THIS MOVIE STINKS!" post, but it's not. I'm just naming the negative aspects because I think most people can agree it's a good film, so I really don't feel the need to go through and give a bunch of reasons why it's good.

That article has hundreds of responses for a reason ;) There's tons of great theories in that article as well as the responses. It's an ambiguous ending even still. Furthermore, I don't think Nolan's that generous to moviegoers to give it all away with something so slight. There's tons of explanations for that in the responses :)

Edit: Search the post (CTRL + F) for "somethoughts" and you'll get a well thought out counterargument, for example, and he links to a similar theory:
    http://chud.com/articles/articles/2...HE-MEANING-AND-SECRET-OF-INCEPTION/Page1.html

So I'd say it's still all up in the air, as Nolan did on purpose.

The top was most definitely going to stop spinning....I think? Maybe not. We will never know if him "realizing he was dreaming" was a kick or a fake kick. He definitely could have created that world in the last scene of the movie.

In the top 5 movies i've ever seen. But only an idiot wouldn't understand the concept. As Mark said, that parts a little overrated.

That is one one of a movie. Thats writing at is finest.
As for the ending - thats one big fucking mindfuck. I'd love to know whether it was reality or he was still in limbo. I like to think it was reality.
