Message 4 - 'A Thousand Suns' Coming in September?!

    It's easy to understand it. Assuming ATS does become the final album title, it connects with the single name, The Catalyst.

    The term "a thousand suns" was used to describe the brightness and power of the atomic bomb when it was first tested, and many people feel the development of the atomic bomb was 'the catalyst' that began the downfall of mankind. Even though LP has gone out of their way to make sure we don't believe this is a concept album, that definition alone still explains the assumed album title, and single name.

    Returning to the quote from the Bhagavad-Gita that was deciphered in Message 2:

    "If the radiance of a thousand suns
    Were to burst at once into the sky
    That would be like the splendor of the Mighty one...
    I am become Death,
    The destroyer of worlds."

    This quote was used by J. Robert Oppenheimer to describe how after the atomic bomb was dropped, how man had become "death...the destroyer of worlds".

    Therefore, the title makes complete sense. I'm actually warming up to it after realizing it's true meaning.

    Of course you don't get it, neither do I. We haven't heard the album or LP's reasoning for using it. Like I've been saying, context is important and we have none.
    Which is why I'll wait and see what connection it has to the album, and why, before deciding if it's a good title.
    I'm mean, I really dig the imagery it invokes but then I also dig the word "Meteora" in the same way and that album doesn't match up at all.

    You may also not like the title at first but after hearing it you sort of get used to it and it becomes a cool album title.

    That is, of course, provided that the album (specifically, its lyrics) touches on that stuff.

    From what we'd been told, we were just reading up on that stuff to find "A Thousand Suns" and nothing more.

    Yes, but why would the band pick a random quote out of nowhere to justify an album title? It doesn't make sense.

    A Thousand Suns reminds me of the song A Thousand Words by Savage Garden, however I highly doubt there's a link between them. Imagine it:
    You can resurrect a thousand suns to deceive me more and more

    :lol: Ah the imagination of someone who's bored/avoiding doing housework.

    Yeah, recently the LPUTV and LPTV episodes haven't been very good.
