Wow, I'm just here to remind what seems to be the vast majority that we have no confirmation whatsoever that we are getting a single, let alone a press release, on the 2nd of August. Like Derek has said, the album will probably finish sometime in August, so we shouldn't keep our expectations high for too much.

You don't title a press release. Mike said the new album will be in a few months. He also said that we will hear new music "MUCH SOONER". I could be that the single isn't called "The Catalyst" however.

Before the official announcement, LPlive reported that the single would be out August 2nd also

 

LPLive is a fansite with no official affiliation to the band, the same as any other fansite. If it says either on Mike's blog or LP.com that the single will be out August 2nd, let me know.

 

That is correct. HOWEVER, they got their hands on a leak from Warner saying their would be a single on August 2nd.

 

With all due respect, I say that's bullshit. Someone, I think Derek pointed out earlier that no one from Warner would say anything to a fansite and put their jobs at risk. The real leaks go out to MTV or other big media outlets, thats where the publicity happens thats where the information goes. Not to a fansite.

 

Hmm.. I thought that it wás a serious leak that some guys at Warner tried to muffle up, i think that Shinoda194 is right on this one(?) Anyway, i'm also still convinced that this is about new music. My first guess is still the single of the new album.

 

Mike said this has to do with new music/new album so yes it is safe to assume this is probably the new single, I'm just saying I think its bullshit that anyone from Warner would leak anything when they are always hounding the fan sites to not post material from the band and what not.

 

If the leak was fake, Warner or LP would probably not have cared to have it removed that quickly. The song "The Catalyst" will be out August 2nd. With LP, we seem to not be able to trust anything, but the new song will be out this day, believe me.

Why is the wiki page for the next album still full of garbage? I know wiki is not the most reliable source for anything, but can anyone fix that?

 

I guess we'll have to wait until next month until we will actually know what this is, unless Mike actually tells us its the new single.

 

Wow, Wikipedia has failed in keeping out a load of bullshit.

 

It just irritates me that someone would go out of their way to make up a bunch of non-sense. I use wikipedia on a fairly frequent basis, but now I almost want to boycott it. I also noticed it uses LPA as a reference. That's just bogus.

 

I'm off to bed. Hopefully the wiki stuff gets sorted out somehow. Before I head off, I just want to say I've been using this website since sometime in 2006(although I just recently started posting). I love the community here and this is the first place I go to for Linkin Park news and updates. Keep up the good work and heres to the next "Message(s)"!
