+ Awesome display (retina), and looks beautiful... I'm quite impressed by that. The white doesn't look so great, but people ask for it, so I'm surprised Apple giveth. - Still no where near as customizable as Android (by this, I mean the home screen with widgets and stuff, I want all my info at a glance, not to have to open a bunch of apps separately to quickly catch up on my activities) ~ It took them this long to implement threaded email? They're playing catchup still even though they make it sound "evolutionary" ~ Also, video chat isn't something new. They've apparently been doing it in other places in the world for a while now; plus there's always been Skype... oh and wifi-only? Good going, AT&T. + Multitasking ... finally. Again, playing catchup... ~ HD videos .. cool, but it's a phone. Granted it's a good idea, but why on earth do you need iMovie on your phone? It only gives you 5 whopping themes for $4.99. Oh, and the price, really? + The gyro is pretty cool, I wonder what devs will be able to pull off with 6-axis sensitivity. - The iPod Touch has 32/64GB of space, but the iPhone only has 16/32GB? What's up with this, especially if you're giving the ability to record HD? This is Apple setting themselves up for a iPhone 4.1 + 5-bands is pretty awesome, it's not 4G, but it's pretty cool that it'll work everywhere in the world. + Very thin, finally. The previous iPhones were such bricks... then again, looking at other non-Apple phones, that's normal. - Bumpers... seriously? $30? Seriously?!
I think the iPhone 4 will be a much bigger improvement from the previous ones, and the Operrating System 4 has a whole new load of features, so I think this iPhone may give Android a run for its money.
Not even close. iOS is still restrictive as always, unless it's jailbroken, and even then it's still iffy sometimes. For example, iOS only allows icons on it's homescreens, whereas Android allows icons and widgets which range from displaying the weather, to your emails, to Twitter, to quickly toggling switches (phone/wifi/bt/etc). And if that wasn't good, then there's profiles - you can create a profiles however you like, say you create a profile for work, and just include work related stuff like email, stocks, etc., then another profile for play, which has some useless things, then another profile for travelling. In order to get any information from iOS, you have to go into various apps, and blah blah. Android lets you have everything at a glance, how you like it. I quite like the top slide-down menu, which shows you notifications and system info from anywhere. So, until the iOS becomes as customizable as Android, Apple has a shitload of sprinting to do, nevermind running. They can sugarcoat their position with useless stuff like iMovie and the "revolutionary" FaceTalk (like I said, Skype..), but everyone who can look beyond the shininess knows it's just over-compensation.
I laugh at iMovie on the iPhone. Dumbest idea ever. HD video editing on your phone? It'll kill your battery in 30 minutes.
Thank you. Apple might be incredible with computers, but their attempts with phones have been piss poor. I was able to multi-task with my two year old Blackberry Curve 8320. The fact that Apple just got around to it now is a sign they have no clue what they're doing when it comes to Smartphones.
The sad thing is, millions of people are buying it just because it's Apple. And Apple has been effectively ignoring their computer line for the iPad and iPhone. The Mac Pro hasn't had any spec updates in over a year, Blu Ray drives are still absent on all Mac models, Snow Leopard has been considered by many to be Apple's Vista, iWork and iLife have gone from once yearly releases to every couple years, and when first introduced, the 27" iMacs were plagued with all sorts of manufacturing problems. I liked my iPhone, but after seeing what Android was capable of, I had to switch and I'm glad I did.
You guys have made me want an Android now, Ive done some research and now Ive come to agree with you.
You're welcome. It's funny how if people do just a little bit of research, they easily come to this conclusion.
if you get one, dont lend it to NigaHiga, he broke his lol
Give it about 4-5 years...Google will enter the world of computers too. And they'll probably out-do Apple just like they did with Android. Google is the future.
I don't have a phone but I did try out the Android OS on my computer. And I have to say for a phone OS it's pretty damn awesome. Also, with Ubuntu and their native android app support it definitely helps.
Have you ever considered how much data Google has about us? They could practically paint my life if I asked them to, I bet. Also, amusing thought I had the other day - imagine if they bought Facebook. Google would basically own us. =P Actually, I'm sure Google knows more about my history than I can remember, haha. But yeah, Google's pretty epic with everything they do. They're the true revolutionaries here, not Apple. Look at what they did with search, then look at what they did with email (as in the interface, and space - if they hadn't come along, I'm pretty sure we'd all still have ~100mb max). Of course, they were a bit late in the phone aspect, Apple beat them to the punch there, but Android did it right. Then there's stuff like Google Docs - stuff like that never really existed *well* until Google came along, and now Microsoft's playing catch up with Office, since they're basically forced to play Google's game. It's funny how all of this was started by 2 guys in a garage. Aaand then there's Apple, attracting people with shiny stuff and over-exaggerating about features (*coughfacetalkcough*).
