8 Years Of LPA: The Original Site Anniversary

For those who are unaware, or haven't been keeping up with us since we launched nearly a decade ago, today is a very special day for the The Linkin Park Association and one that we all look upon with great pride. Yes, today marks the 8th Anniversary of the original site launch of LPAssociation as a CJB.net site, and the day that would happen to impact the lives of it's founders (both Omar and myself) forever.

Established on this very day 8 years ago, The Linkin Park Association of yesteryear was a far cry from the website you are now reading from today. In fact it was quite different. For starters, the original site only had two staff members (Omar and I), did not have any forums, and was hosted through Angelfire, a hosting service that we would eventually have to break away from when our hit counter reached over 4,000+ and bandwidth suspensions started to become the norm for us and our visitors. In fact, it wouldn't actually be until July of 2002 that we finally began to increase our staff, and started up a forum, purchasing a .com that would later be launched to the public on October 24th, 2002...ironically the 2 year anniversary of Linkin Park's groundbreaking debut album Hybrid Theory.

Never did we ever imagine in our wildest dreams that we would end up accomplishing as much as we have, or that the LPA would still be here and operational 8 years later. To us, that in itself is a remarkable feat, and we know we couldn't have done any of that without the strong support of our visitors, and the people who come to us everyday and choose us as their favorite Linkin Park site.

To mark this special occasion, we have launched a new section of our site called "Previous Versions of LPA", a retrospective that showcases every design this site has ever had (including the rarely seen CJB.net version of the site that launched back in 2002).

The Lara Croft thing was because I was obsessed with tomb raider back then. I've had that email since I was 13 and hilariously enough, that's still my msn. You won't believe how many times I got added on msn by tomb raider fans going "zomgz r u lara croft?" .
