EDIT: So I just found out my entire stay here in Sausalito that there's a recording studio literally 5 minutes away from where I live that artists such as metallica, kanye west, lady gaga, deftones, eminem, santana, huey lewis, sammy hagar, echobrain, joe satriani, van morrison, primus, dave matthews band, steve vai, faith no more and loads others have recorded albums! It's called The Plant Studios and their website is here

I can't believe it...this fucking rules! It would certainly explain why so many limos park around that area.
