If then want to push it back, then they're gonna push it back. Don't tell Linkin Park what they can't do.

Actually if it wasn't for Mike's blogging we'd be getting next to no updates at all. This was his response to the whining about the pushed back release date:

I think it's absurd Mike has to post an explanation because people are whining about the release date being pushed back a little. Use some common sense people, albums take a fucking long time to make. It's good that bands like AFI can release albums quickly but, no offence to any AFI fans (I'm one myself), LP are in a whole different calibre of musical production and stature.

They're working on an album, let's be thankful for that. After all the touring and various projects they've had going on, they're well inclined to take a break from music altogether.

Here's my personal opinion. They said they wanted to maybe try a concept album, I think they then realized all of what they would have to do to make that happened and reconsidered. I think they then decided and agreed that they would just start making songs and see if they could pull out a concept album out of it, but if not then just make an album. So they started making beats and some lyrics/songs for a while. (At this point Mike said half the album was done) I think either A) Something clicked and they realized they could pull out a concept album but it would require re-working some things (thus pushing it back) or B) they realized they just were not satisfied with what they had selected for the first part of the album, and decided to work on things more, and try again. (push back)

If this does end up being a concept album I honestly think I'm pretty much dead on, if not, then who knows but pretty everyone would probably agree they just wanted to re do things again as they always do.

Seeing that Lost Supper pic and the reading the post, I can't help but wonder if that last statement was a John Locke reference.

That's my point. For everything he says, he has to go back and reiterate on. Then reiterate on that. And then clarify what he said then. And what he says is usually arbitrary and seems to have just been saying it to be saying it.

"Hey guys. Made some songs. Rapped on them. Might use them. Or not. Maybe. Not sure. We're gonna see what happens I guess." It's great that he wants to shoot shit with everyone, it just seems like if he didn't want people pissing and moaning he shouldn't announce every tiny detail they're dealing with as it happens.

    Personal opinion, of course.

I also disagree with the whole "Albums takes a long time and you're all whiners for complaining" attitude (of a lot of people, not necessarily who I quoted). Everyone bitched about the four year gap between Meteora and Minutes, nobody was particularly looking forward to it and people get pissy when it looks more and more like it's going to happen again. It's not ungrateful and it's not whining, it's a pain in the ass and one that's not helped by band members repeatedly talking about said delayed album, bringing me back to my first point...

To me, I believe they want to make something special (concept, or different genre for them) and are taking this album seriously and that's why it's pushed back. I have it on good authority that they sometimes read fansites, and there is no doubt that they see the comments that fans are posting about the new album and how it is a make or break album for many fans. The band is not going to just rush the album out, when so much is riding on this fourth release.

There is a Coheed and Cambria album coming out 4/13 to keep me occupied while I wait for the new LP album. I just wish they wouldn't delay things so much, oh well
