In Between's pretty great, and Across the Line reminds me too much of someone parodying a Meteora song. For some reason. On topic though I hope they don't actually name the song Ten Minutes to Midnight, just because it reminds me too much of Iron Maiden.

    It's trivial and I don't care.

IB? Boring. Limited vocal range, minimal instrumentation. That was it.

Ten Minutes To Midnight reminds of Boys Like Girls. lmao.

Imagined theres a music video for this song and theres a clock showing 11:50 PM.(Just like Shadow Of The Day, except it was 11:55 PM). Don't understand? Look up Shadow Of The Day of Wiki.

It seems that the boys are keeping their promise to release songs more often and that's very good.I hope that this will continue from now on.

That's what I was thinking. It comes down to whether or not you like that sort of song, I suppose.

By the same logic, if "Across the Line" were on the album any "In Between" was not, you're saying the only reason people would like "In Between" would be because it's more fresh -- and not because it's a good song.

I've always hated "In Between", personally.

Why the hell would the song be called "Ten Minutes to Midnight" when the last time the doomsday clock was at 11:50 was in 1990?

I can pretty much guarantee that this is false.

^ Because it could be a thematic song title instead of a literal one...

Not to mention that it's been at less than 10 for over a decade.

In light of that, to me it just seems irrelevant and anti-climactic that they'd give a song that title.

Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with the doomsday clock

I don't mind "In Between" at all but I don't like "Across The Line" much -- must've been the only time a new Linkin Park song didn't blow me away.

And, while I like "No Roads Left", I think it's a little lacking in the lyrical department and, so, I'm okay with it not being on the album.

Perhaps, but you can see why people would assume it is, considering the title of their last album which was a reference to the doomsday clock.

Did you guys hear how the doomsday clock has officially been moved back one minute? So now we're six minutes away instead of 5.

I disagree about Hands Held High, that would have been great if it was in the place of In Between. The could have swapped Across The Line with any of the "heavy" songs on MTM other than No More Sorrow, as I had to force myself to like Bleed it Out and Given Up, They weren't bad songs at all but they just didn't feel like LP to me and the choruses were weak and lyrics lacking. With what we now have, this is how MTM should have looked:

    Wake
    Across The Line
    Leave Out All The Rest
    Bleed It Out
    Shadow of the Day
    What I've Done
    Hands Held High
    No More Sorrow
    Valentines Day
    No Roads Left
    In Pieces
    Not Alone
The Little Things Give You Away

release Given Up as a bonus track. stick Not Alone in before TLTGYA

With all that said, i believe the ballads are the best tracks on MTM. Shadow of the Day, Leave Out All the Rest, Little Things, and In Pieces are by far the best songs on MTM. The only heavy song that ever really stayed on repeat for an extended period of time was No More Sorrow. I'm by no means a "new" LP fan, I've been a big fan since I was 12 (right around when Meteora came out) and I love their older heavy songs but as far as MTM goes the best songs are the soft ones. Now having heard "Not Alone" I'm starting to really dig the soft side of LP, I'd love to see them build on it on the new album.

And for the record, New Divide is the worst song LP has ever released. Everything about it is generic and boring. I find Chester's vocals on this album to be too distorted (especially at the beginning) and the lyrics are not special at all. The intro is kinda cool, but the vocals are weak and the chorus is really generic. Chester has an incredible voice, he doesn't need vocoder/autotune to sound good. New Divide is like What I've Done gone horribly wrong. I don't hate the song but out of all the songs LP has released over the years New Divide is probably their weakest.

As much as I thought New Divide was good the first couple of times I heard it, I realize now I was only enamored by it because it was a new song.

The vocals are overdone/slightly poor and not what I'd normally expect from Chester, and it just isn't really a song that survived with time. Not Alone is definitely better.

I agree. When I first heard it I thought it was great, it was playing in my head for a few days, but once I thought about it the only reason I was so enamored with it is because it's the first new LP song we had heard in 2 years. After like the 10th or 12th listen I was like wow this song is really generic. Not that it's bad, but there was nothing about it that when I pick up my ipod I say to myself "hey, I wanna listen to New Divide!". With all the great stuff LP has put out over the years it's kinda sad that New Divide is one of the most, if not THE most, famous, popular, and marketed LP songs. Well I guess that's where music is at today, songs don't have to be good to be famous they just have to be slightly catchy and well marketed.

    Agreed.

Speaking of, anyone else have an issue getting this song to work on their iPod or in iTunes?
