On his official blog, Mike Shinoda has taken the time to respond to some fan questions that have been posted in his blog comments over the past few weeks.

"I've been rapping a bit more, Joe has been a little more present, and together we're also doing a lot with the beats. Again, you never know what can happen: we can make 50 songs with rapping, and if the 10 that don't have rapping get picked by the band for the album, then any comment I may have made about rapping is null and void! But we have never produced an album because "we had to," it's all about where the band is at creatively, at the time. Hybrid Theory and Meteora were a time of defining a sound, MTM was a time of destroying that and branching out in many directions. This new album, so far, is a redefinition."

You can read the above answer and more by heading over to Mike's official blog here.

I have a feeling were going to get something that we've been waiting for for a long time.

Smart, he's covering his tracks this time. Putting a nice disclaimer. I like this.

Me too. I think the band needed to take a chance with Minutes To Midnight to really discover themselves as a band and discover themselves musically.

After seeing how they work out their songs from demo to final products, I must admit that this new album must be something hot. I still think Mike should rap, even though from the LPU CD you can really tell the songs that started out rap orientated and switched over to being singing songs. So it's a bit "meeeh" on if we will get a good quantity of rap songs. I am calling dibs on 3 songs tops for mike rapping.. Let's see how it all fairs out :).

    Very curious about the album.

    Mike Shinoda:
'Hybrid Theory and Meteora were a time of defining a sound, MTM was a time of destroying that and branching out in many directions. This new album, so far, is a redefinition.'

It sounds like they know how the want to sound right now. So no more trying out stuff, they know what they want and I believe that's a really good thing!

    Can't wait for the album:D

    We're all hoping, man.

I like that he says he firmly believes we'll see a 2010 release. :) That's a little reassuring, I think.

If LP goes Progressive Rock I will eat my hat.

(I already have a hat ready for consumption just in case.)

I guess he means they're aiming for a new sound, one that's more definite than MTM where they were basically trying things that were new for them. I think Chester's also said that it won't completely abandon how they used to sound so yeah.

I don't know why people bitch about how long it takes for the band to release albums. Imagine how frustrating it must be actually working and waiting for the completion of the album from the band's point of view. Mike really does know how to keep a cool head.

At least they're aware of our nagging & bitching, and they're trying to fix it to make us relatively happy. Can't say that about most bands.
