Mike Sheds More Light On LPU9 & New Album

I'm sorry to hear that. In any case, I've never listened to any of the bands Mike mentioned, so I'm still clueless as to what he means.

 

So why did you decide to title the album 'Chicken Basket'?
Mike:[from behind shades]I was listenin' to this crazy fuckin' song, man, and I felt like I was totally on drugs, man, and I just said... CHICKEN BASKET... and the band looked at me, like, dude, 'cause they felt it too, and we knew.

 

maaan i swear my brothers told me before that my band are going to have a song in the future called "chicken noodles" ... instead they made "chicken basket"

I also might get the LPU this year. Sounds awesome.

 

Santogold is fairly upbeat hipster pop/electronic thing, Postal Service is a little bit darker indie pop/electronic with Ben Gibbard from Death Cab For Cutie on vocals, and At The Drive-in were an earlyish post-hardcore band, after they broke up their members formed The Mars Volta and Sparta.

 

The new song is probably Grecian though or most likely one we heard parts of in the DVD.

 

As much as I love the album updates, I can't help but get confused every time they (esp Mike) describe a song they are working on *sigh*

Yay for unreleased MTM song though.

I'm diggin' the sound of this "Chicken Basket" title. Let's hope they choose the right batch of songs when they plop their stones in the bowl and vote. Man if they had all the guys singing again in verses that would be awesome. Imagine if they give Brad a voicebox solo and long breakdowns with Joe being the focal point.
This trippy stuff sounds great and is creating lots of hype for their new album. The LPU disks in the future may have a lot more recent and strong material.

 

Awesome... Weird, but awesome. I'm digging the Peter Gaibriel reference. If the the songs anything like "Sledgehammer"... lol Mike singing while riding a bike on stage! insanly awesome! XD


and the MTM bside? theres hope for the NRG string song yet!

It'll be an upbeat pop song with overdriven guitars and electronic elements, probably. The weird vocals sound cool though.

Mike means: It'll be a catchy electronic based song with relatively unusual sounding guitars and a lot of vocal harmonies
