Now that he's finally been laid to rest and the whole mystery of his death has been solved, I think it would be cool for the Michael Jackson fans here to discuss their favorite Michael Jackson album. Please select from the choices above, and state your reasoning/opinions on the album.
I haven't really been following this, and sorry to go off-topic, but -- what did they find in solving the mystery?
Some people were saying it was an overdose, others were saying it was dr's negligence...until the report came out. What the report did find was that Dr. Murray committed manslaughter (accidental homicide) by administering too much propofol to Michael which ended up killing him. If you're not sure what Propofol is, it's a sleeping drug used to put patients under at hospitals. Too much of it can stop a person's breathing, and that's why Dr. Murray is being tried for manslaughter because nobody outside of a hospital should've been receiving this drug.
It doesn't matter how he died IMO, MJ was on his way out anyway. The gigs in Wembley arena would have been enough to kill. Only difference would have been he may have died onstage. As for his best album, I'd agree with Thriller, although I can't say I've ever been that into MJ's work.
I'd go with Thriller, followed by Dangerous. It's really hard to choose though, he had great songs in all his albums imo.
The problem is...I'm torn and that's why I can't vote. For me Off The Wall is probably his most timeless album. It's the one album that even 30 years out has not lost any of it's punch or creative impact and can still be played in clubs and sound fresh. For Thriller, that's obviously the one CD that has the biggest Michael Jackson hits (Billie Jean, Thriller, PYT) but some songs sound dated and stuck in the 80's and because of that I think overall it might not be his best album. My favorite of his probably would have to be Dangerous if I really thought hard about it. The album itself has a very unique sound and it does a good job of mixing rap, funk, rock and even R&B which probably makes the CD his most creative and diverse. I listen to that one more than any of the others and as a result it's probably my favorite. HIStory is great, and definitely his most underrated album and worthy of mention. However, when compared with Dangerous, Dangerous still comes out on top...followed VERY closely by Off The Wall.
Bad. Thriller and the other ones people list are severely overrated in terms of creativity and listenability.
Bad definitely does have two of Michael Jackson's best songs ever made..."Man In The Mirror" and "The Way You Make Me Feel". Unfortunately I don't listen to it as much as the others which is why I didn't include it in my post.
Maybe some of the people in this thread are actually real fans of Michael Jackson and have listened to him since they were young? I personally grew up listening to him and used to collect books, toys etc from him when I was a child. I have no problems with you man, but you should avoid making such asinine statements when you really don't know all the facts. MJ performed for almost 45 years. A few people here are bound to have grown up with his music like I have.
I don't mean you or any individual on here, and I know he had a huge impact, I'm an avid fan myself. My point is, go back 3 months and he was the butt of every joke in the media and those same people that were laughing and ridiculing him are now his biggest fans.
And Thriller holds every other album down for the count. I wasn't a HUGE fan of Michael but I gave him enough respect, dead or alive, for his music not what the media said about him. Go back 3 months ago and I don't think I heard any word from him except for his comeback tour, I don't think the people were laughing at him then. I think they were laughing and making jokes about him when all those allegations came out.
Agreed. Like Madonna said last night, people abandoned him. And it's true. Poor guy. Never got respect at the end.
