Skip work this friday in order to go see TBS? I work a 13hr shitft from 9:30 Am to 10:30Pm so I'm thinking about going in and saying I need off at 3:30 I feel really bad about doing this though because no one comes in anymore for my ride. (I work at busch gardens) and I am always the one they can depend on... but I really want to go... Set List: envy on the coast (x) amount of truth vultures new song sugar skulls paperback new song the gift of paralysis anberlin the resistance a whisper & clamor disappear a day late breaking the unwinding cable car paperthin hymn dismantle. repair. godspeed feel good drag taking back sunday you know how i do error: operator set phasers to stun carpathia one-eighty by summer swing you're so last summer liar new again cute without the e sink into me a decade under the influence what's it feel like to be a ghost ---------- everything must go timberwolves at new jersey makedamnsure The tix cost 25 bucks and its at the national in richmond va. I'm a big fan of TBS and I like alot of Anberlin & Envy's work. You decide!
Well...it's ultimately YOUR decision. I love TBS as well and if it were me, I would probably go, just as long it's ok with your job. You have to weigh in your priorities. So do what you think is best. Off topic, Busch Gardens in VA is my favorite amusement park that I've ever been to. What ride do you work?
If you can likely only be lectures, not fired, go. If you are likely to be fired, then ask if it is worth losing your job over. Also think, how many times have you missed work recently. If you haven't missed a shift in ages, then you are safer to do so.
I saw TBS a few months ago and they were pretty fricken awesome. And what can I say about Anberlin? Sadly, I've never seen them live, but they're one of my favorite bands ever. Like others have said, if you can afford to call in sick without repercussions, go!
I kind of get tossed around because I am desperate for hours and work 13hr shifts like every day to pay for college lol. Lately I've been working on the log flume a lot but I also do Railroad, Alpengeist, Griffon, and crowd control at concerts. I think I prbly will end up going because Busch is a really chill place and pretty much will always put up with people needing off. I wish I woulda known about the show 2 weeks ago so I coulda asked it off.
yah I've seen em twice. Once in a small venue and once in a big amp, and I gotta say they are great in small venues. Which makes me want to go to the one this friday even more haha.
I just saw them a week ago,(2nd time) and they have improved dramatically in their live performance. I say go.
Go to work and perform your duties as an employee to your company. If you wanted to go so bad, you shoulda had the request in the proper amount of time. Not lecturing or bitching, just stating my side of the equation.
He posted above that he didn't know about the show. If he knew about it he would have asked for time off in advance.
well yah, I know I should go to work, which is why this is such a difficult decision to for me to make. But like I said, I'm prbly the most dedicated person I know that works there in my area. I always show up to work to find no one that was scheduled there. And all the supervisors are thanking me for just showing up and performing my job... So in a way I feel bad because I am the one they can always count on and now I am going to let them down, but on the flip side, I so deserve to be able to take the day or part of the day off. I think what I am prbly going to do is just call them tomorrow and tell them I have a last minute appointment on friday that I have to leave work early for. That way they know in advance, I will still be working most the day, and I won't completely let them down. I really want to go... haha.
Pull a sicky, just call in on the day. If it's the same as it is over here, they won't require a doctors certificate unless its for more than two days, or you do it all the time. If you like the band, it'll be worth it.
I think it depends on what type of contract he's on. I was (I resigned today) on a part time AWA, and I required a doctor's certificate for a single day off. I believe here it's only casuals that can get away without one. Barnes, if as you say you never call in sick, and Busch Gardens is generally pretty cruisy when it comes to that sort of thing, go for it definitely.
So what are you gonna do for money now? lol Nah I'm part time too, and I don't require one. Who knows, maybe it comes down to your individual contract then.
I'm job hunting and collecting youth allowance . I've got one place lined up that, while not a sure thing, is likely to happen. I've also got another job waiting that is guaranteed, they're just waiting on one particular guy to leave. Yeah, that must be it. My place was definitely the kind to rip off its employees whenever it could, so after three and a half years I'd just had enough. Hooray for off topic.
Your job must suck if you have to make up excuses like that. Fuck, I work in a grocery store (CHA CHING) and even the damn managers call in for shit like concerts and NASCAR races (yeah). I'd say only do it if you absolutely love the band, though. Otherwise, you're missing out on making money.
Well I mean, you work at a grocery store. If you don't show up, the worst thing that really happens is they have one less check out line open or the shelves are stocked slower. I work at an amusement park. If I don't show up and there is no one to replace me then an entire ride gets shut down for the day. lol. I now feel so important and proud!
I'd go for Envy On The Coast alone, I saw them support Finch last year and they put on an amazing show. If that doesn't sell it to you, TBS always guarantee a fun night out.
