    How is Atmosphere terrible? Explain...

Saying that reason is an absolute joke. Good job generalizing.

Chamillionaire is the one that's terrible. Bad everything.

Not counting the fact that "Slug" sounds almost exactly like John Cena (and nothing screams hardcore oldschool like a rapping wrestler)

Doesn't take much and that's messed up
Because these people do a lot of simple shit to impress us
While everyone was trying to out-do the last man
I was just a ghost trying to catch some Mrs. Pac-Man
Hello ma'am, would you be interested
In some sexual positions and emotional investments
See, I'm not insane, in fact I'm kind of rational
When I be askin', "Yo, where did all the passion go?"
East coast, West coast, down South, Midwest
Nowadays everybody knows how to get fresh
Somebody give me a big yes (YES!)
God Bless America, but she stole the B from "Bless" (Accept it)
Now I'm too fucked up to dance
So I'ma sit with my hand down the front of my pants
You can't achieve your goals if you don't take that chance
So go pry open that trunk and get those amps (You know!)

    What poetry.

My generalizations are bad but that isn't? Nice contradiction, numbnuts.

I suggest giving Atmosphere another shot. If you know where to look, Slug has some crazy lines. The production on many songs are ace as well.

I know a guy with a rock star life, but he still don't fly so he's mad at the sky
Sits me down and kicks his wisdom he's been around I give him a listen
Seems like he got a lot of complaints about how nowadays things ain't the same na
Used to place some faith in the basement a toast for this guy and those kids that he came with
Cause they all on the same shit based on, cut down placement, up town, stay strong
Don't ever do a dance with the devil now, that smile is a sign that you're sellin' out
Judgement, gossip, ethics, let's just exploit all this excess
You can feel how we feels to walk around town to lookin down from them tall heels
And who needs fame or fortune when you get the same love that the fame is snortin
Future so afraid of yours that you strayed from the course and you came up short
Believe he would have more credibility if he wasn't just another drunk pill junky
It's obvious to me that he's still hungry for the superstars a little bad lucky
Go ahead and get mad at God point your fingers at your dad and at Santa Claus
Listen all yall it's a sabotage wouldn't look so bad with the bandage off

It goes one for the bar tap two for the shine
Go to your car and do another line
Barely trust them their all puppets love is nothing scared of success
One for the bass two for the drums
Last call gonna take whatever comes
Barely trust them their all puppets love is nothing scared of success

I think it's great how you used to be great
I can't hate how you choose to relate
But I know you had the potential
I understand why you wanted to let go
A lot of pressure in the middle of those shoulders
And we ain't gettin nothing but older
Ain't nothing change but the day we run from
But nobody knows that better than you

Slug sounds like Cena? Slug came before Cena.

Honestly, why would I bother going into every awful detail of Chamillionaire?

They see me rollin' They hatin'
Patrollin' they try to catch me ridin' dirty
Try to catch me ridin' dirty
Try to catch me ridin' dirty
Try to catch me ridin' dirty
Try to catch me ridin' dirty
My music so loud I'm swangin'
They hopin' that they gon catch me ridin' dirty
Try to catch me ridin' dirty
Try to catch me ridin' dirty
Try to catch me ridin' dirty
Try to catch me ridin' dirty

    [Verse 1 - Chamillionaire]
Police think they can see me lean
I'm tint so it ain't easy to be seen
When you see me ride by, they can see the glean
And my shine on the deck and the TV screen
Ride with a new chick, she like hold up
    Next to the playstation controller
Is a full clip and my pistola
Turn a jacker into a coma
Girl you ain't know, I'm crazy like Krayzie Bone
Just tryin' to bone, ain't tryin to have no babies
Rock clean itself, so I pull in ladies
Laws of patrolling, you know they hate me
Music turned all the way up until the maximum
I can speak for some niggas, tryin to jack for some
But we packin somethin that we have and, um
will have a nigga locked up in the maximum
Security cell, I'm grippin oak (oak)
Music loud and tippin' slow (slow)
Twist and twistin' like hit this dough (dough)
Pull up from behind and is in his throat (throat)
    Windows down gotta stop pollution
CDs change niggas like who is that producing?
This the Play-N-Skillz when we out and cruisin'
Got warrants in every city except Houston, but I'm still ain't losin'

    What poetry...

That is everything wrong with hip-hop. Just stupid lyrics. He's a fake.

You think Atmosphere's lyrics are bad?! Haha. Should of known because you like blatant, generic, garbage lyrics. It's easy to know why you'd think Atmosphere's lyrics are bad. That song is full of metaphors... You clearly didn't realize that.

Metaphoric rhyming is much more interesting than that Chamillionaire crap.

It's not even as though that stuff is endemic of mainstream rap music (I would have said hip-hop but someone probably would have ragged on me). A lot of pop musicians have had shallow lyrics. They always have. I don't know why people seem to complain more about it when it's in this context in particular.

But yeah, Blackee had a point with his original remarks about Atmosphere. I personally think you can do much better than them in any case.

Oh certainly, but it's not like Atmosphere hasn't proven themselves over and over again on all of their albums. I admit, Trying to Find a Balance isn't their greatest song, but you don't have to look very far to hear some great rhyming.

Atmosphere is above and beyond all that mainstream stuff. You can be better than them, sure. But why would you want to? They have a unique style that sets them apart IMO.

Oh wow, really. Had no idea. Honest I didn't...

And no, I wasn't arguing who came first, I was making a point that this "good" rapper sounds a lot like a joke rapper.

Why wouldn't you want to back your argument with something?
    Nice one.

Cheesy, stupid metaphors. I don't give points for effort.

I must not have got on the brilliance of Pac Man references. We'll just chalk that up to me clearly being spoonfed teh mainstream raps and not being privy to dat hawt fiah that comes with every Atmosphere metaphor.

Now I'm too fucked up to dance
So I'ma sit with my hand down the front of my pants

    Choke on it, Pac...

Nice try crying about Ridin' Dirty trying to justify your taste in lame "indie" rap, but the fact remains Ghetto Quran >>> Atmosphere's entire discography.

For that, I'm done arguing with you. No point in arguing with an ignorant numbskull.

    Jay-Z: "The Blueprint"
    Kanye West: "The College Dropout".

More recent stuff, just off the top of my head.

I must admit that much rap/hip-hop does very little for me ever since I started listening to Tech N9ne.

I love the way the argument against Atmosphere has been narrowed down to two lines of his lyrics.

There's no point. He doesn't like "lame indie rap". He generalized again after blaming me for it LMAO.
