    i need some hip-hop reccs.

Recently i've been listening to a lot of instrumental hip-hop/trip hop shit and in the past i've enjoyed Lupe Fiasco, The Roots and Fort Minor.

I'm listening to Deltron 3030 right now. It's pretty awesome.

you can start recommending shit now

i've got Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) now.

Any specific album from any of those you recommended? Illmatic for Nas i'd guess?

Oh great! We need more hip-hop listeners here! I'd suggest whatever Dean said. Try Atmosphere too, they don't curse much and write deep material. Also check Jedi Mind Tricks, Big L, Apathy, Celph Titled (basically the whole Demigodz/Doe Rakers roster), Copywrite, Joe Budden, Immortal Technique.

Here are a couple of tracks that I think are stand outs...

    Hope you like em!

    Oh Christ, not Atmosphere...

Anyway, Chamillionaires Ultimate Victory was pretty awesome, I love Kamikaze from Twista, old 50 Cent, especially the song Ghetto Quran. MF Doom is good, as is Royce Da 5'9.

Along with the standard 2pac, Biggie, etc etc.

Oh wow, I forgot Paul's Boutique.

I guess he can only really be loosely described as hip-hop, but Odelay and Guero by Beck aren't far off.

You knock Atmosphere and recommend Twista and 50 Cent? That's laughable. 2Pac and Biggie? That's like the most generic recommendation ever. I don't care what anyone thinks, I think they both suck.

Here are some to check out:

    Jazz Liberatorz
    Lootpack
    Macklemore
    Nomak
    Nujabes
    Panacea
    Peanut Butter Wolf
    The Pharcyde
    Quasimoto
    Take
    Mike Slott
    Kutiman
    Madlib
    Dr. Octagon
    Rekordah
    Aceyalone
    Arts the Beatdoctor
    Noah23
    Babbletron
    Blue Scholars
    Company Flow
    cLOUDEAD
    Cool Calm Pete
    Cecil Otter
    Deep Puddle Dynamics
    Edan
    Eyedea & Abilities
    Hanger 18
    Heiruspecs
Heiroglyphics (especially since you like Deltron 3030)
    King Geedorah
    Afta-1
    Jemapur
    Samiyam
    Cupp Cave
    No Lay
    Paul White

...I could go on forever. This should be a good start.

He was recommending things that would get people into hip hop. Not a bunch of obscure artists that you really would only like if you already like hip hop.

Besides, I prefer tons of stuff over Atmosphere, and I'm not even that into hip hop.

Although, I have to say that The Pharcyde intensely pwns. As well as Madlib, but he's more of a DJ than an MC.

    ----
Speaking of which, Madvillain is pretty good. It's MF Doom and Madlib. Effing awesome.

Obscure or not, it's all good stuff. I don't see why anybody couldn't get into these artists. I just think it's more interesting and could be more rewarding for him to mention these artists instead of more mainstream stuff.

As for 2Pac and Biggie, I don't like them, but I still greatly respect them.

50 cent's REAL debut, power of the dollar is classic. On the mention of classics, check digable planets, jurassic 5, black star, odb (since wu-tang was mentioned), anything j dilla, proof, kid cudi (just like everyone else. People have been claiming to be fans now but are about 2 years late), the cool kids, n.e.r.d. The list goes on.

Yes, yes I did. Atmosphere is pretty damn terrible, whereas Chamillionaire isn't. I gave Atmosphere a chance once upon a time and found it to be the same type of moronic white indie rap that most rock fans like for the sole reason "But but but they aren't rapping about bitches and ho's!".
