I thought this already existed and maybe it did, but I had a desire to post a band that everyone else seems to enjoy and there was no topic so here it is.

    The Maine
    The Bravery
    Escape the Fate
    Fireworks
    Finger Eleven
    Four Year Strong
    Houston Calls
    Maroon 5
    Motion City Soundtrack
    No Doubt
Smashing Pumpkins (Aside from a few songs)
    Thrice
    Underoath
    3 Doors Down

The list goes on but thats a start.

    This thread may turn ugly.

Nevertheless, I don't see the appeal of really poppy bands like The Maine, All Time Low, The Bravery who have little lyrical or technical talent. I also can't stand the YouTube-born crap like BrokenCYDE.

No Doubt's early material (when they were actually still a ska band) was pretty good, but I know not everybody's into ska.

Thrice is one of those bands that I tried really hard to like. I have Vheissu on CD and I've listened to their other albums, and they're obviously a talented group of guys, they do some really interesting stuff with song arrangements that I don't hear other bands doing. But the songs themselves are just so...forgettable. It's like they can't come up with a good catchy hook (Stare at the Sun being an exception) and they try to hide that fact behind all those intricate arrangements. They're like a non-catchy version of Coheed and Cambria without the storyline, IMO.

    Kill Hannah
The Horrors (both their first album and what I've heard of the new one)

    Jonas Brothers... :p.

    Srsly though.

Merzbow. Though on second thoughts, I do get Merzbow. He's just making noise, and that's what he's trying to do. I think I get most bands.

But for band's I don't like at all:
Pretty much all Pop Punk, and Modern Rock in the style of Nickelback.
    Bring Me The Horizon :)P)

Fuck, I should learn to hate bands that i haven't hated on, on the LPA before.

Oh, and as much as I want to like it, I hardly like any Shoegaze that isn't My Bloody Valentine or Asobi Seksu. And I reeeaaally wanted to like Jesus and Mary Chain, but I couldn't get into it.

    The Bravery are still around?

Anyway, there's not much music that I really hate as I try and be fairly open minded with my tastes and I don't listen to the radio anymore to help prevent me hearing shit songs

What I will say though is bands like Brokencyde annoy the hell out of me. The first song was funny, but when you try and say you're serious about being a band, the joke dies.

I'm pretty open minded when it comes to music but here's my list (apart from maybe one or two songs from the following artists):

    - Most indie bands (especially crap like Franz Ferdinand and The Wombats etc.)
    - Fallout Boy
    - Nine Inch Nails (even though the songs I like are pretty awesome)
    - Coldplay
    - Dimmu Borgir
    - Most overhyped Hip-Hop artists like 50 Cent, The Game, Lil Wayne etc.

    Sunn O))) that is

Now there is a band I don't understand.

Same with Absolutego by Boris. How can anyone get anything out of playing grim droning chords over and over again?

And I always wonder how seriously Sunn O))) take themselves. They look fairly serious, but that sort of music HAS to be for the lulz doesn't it!?

I forgot the extra n. In any case, I don't get what's appealing about their music at all. Sometimes I wonder whether or not they're joking.

To conclude, probably the only thing more pretentious than Sunn O))) is Pitchfork reviewing Sunn O)))

I think that's what makes Sunn O))) so ridiculous: they're dead fucking serious.

I don't want to sound like a hater, but I sincerely do not understand why so many people love Lil Wayne. And every time I say this, someone will inevitably reply, "listen to Tha Drought 3"--which only further confuses me. He's great because of... a mixtape?
