I remember sitting in my living room the afternoon of that day, and listening to a news report on Mtv about a body having been found in Kurt Cobain's home.

I will never forget the sadness and total sense of loss I felt when it was announced that it was indeed Kurt Cobain. He had changed the way I viewed music, and the style of music I listened to had changed dramatically the first time I listened to Nevermind. It was truly one of the defining albums of my teenage years.

Its been 15 years since the death of Kurt Cobain. His life was entirely way too short, and his death was a loss that will be felt for years to come.

I found this great article on the Spin website today.

I wonder what he'd be doing now.

I guess, he'd probably be making better music though.

I say it all the time, the only reason he hasn't sold out is because he's dead.

He just seemed like the type of person who would, my opinion but..I just think he is so overrated. The other band members of Nirvana receive little credit compared to him.

Me too. Yet another addition to the 27 club eh?

Either way he was one of the greatest songwriters of our time.

His adversity to selling out, and his belief that he was failing in that respect just because Nirvana had became popular, was one of the contributing factors to his problems with depression. A big part of the decision to make In Utero less commercial than their previous work was down to him and made on that basis, so logic would say that Nirvana would have been just as likely to go in the opposite direction. The only thing he really had in common with Axl Rose is that he was also a control freak.

I remember they released once a b-side/greatest hits album like 6 or 7 or even longer ago...

    ^Hah.

I was little when he was at his prime. But I listen to Nirvana now. Their music takes me to a whole different place! The 90s ruled!

    R.I.P Kurt.

    Dear Mr Cobain.
I was too young to know who the hell you were at the time but I'm old enough to respect you.
Courtney is still a mooing cow that sold your death out totally to the press and for that I think someone should've shot her by now, seeing that I still believe she shot you. Your daughter is lovely now by the way.
    Love
    Sarah.

Its statements like this that intrigue me. I was the age a lot of you are now when Nirvana and the bands like them were first starting out. Seeing how a different generation views their music is really interesting to me.

    This.

Axl Rose was a dingbat then and he's a dingbat now. I don't see what Kurt ever did to make people believe he'd end up like Axl.

Me three. Suicide isn't outside the realm of possibility, but there are many unanswered questions.

[Insert stereotypical post about why he is either overrated or why he was such an amazing musician.]

My main dislike for Nirvana is on principle.
So many idiots believe that they started/popularised the grunge movement. Really, they didn't. Soundgarden did if anyone, and I'd like to see them get some credit occasionally.

I dunno, Smells Like Teen Spirit is just disgustingly overrated. It's the worlds most generic riff, it had been used hundreds of times before, and the lyrics aren't anything good, or even coherant half the time.

But on the other hand, Lithium, Come As You Are and Heart Shaped Box seem to be pretty good songs.

I wonder if Cobain lived on, what kind of music they (Nirvana)/he would be producing?
