Grego, I used an instrumental track that didn't have Guitar or Vocals on them. It came with a Tab book I bought. The CD is called" Blink 182 Play Along"

So, I played along

We should start a thread where we just cover songs and post them. What do you use to record your stuff?

 

I have my Paul Reed Smith SE Custom guitar hooked into my Marshall MG Series 100 HDFX Half Stack Amp.

From there I have a line in going to my PC with a 1/4' cable using a plug adaptor so it fits inside the Line In spot.

Then, I use Sony Vegas (Windows Movie Maker will work also) to record the video with audio coming only from the Line In, this way I can listen to what I am covering (The instrumental track) and it won't record that also.

Then with Vegas I edit the recorded Video together with the track I played along to, adjusting the guitar volume and track volume how I like.

I can still hear what I am playing out of my amp even when I have the line in going which is nice, my old amp didn't do that.

 

Hmm. That's so easy... I might have to try that out.

 

Yup, pretty much. The plug adaptor only cost me like around $5 bucks at GuitarCenter.

 

The only problem with that is that I'd have to drive almost 40 miles to the nearest one,

 

Even farther for me.

I have to drive an hour and a half to get to my dad's house and there is one near him, so only when I see him I can go to GC.

 

Aw, man, that sucks.

I just found one online, though. I might have to order it later today.

 

I want to get a splitter, so I can plug 2 guitars into my amp for when my friend comes over.

 

Have you ever used one? They don't work as well as you'd think. My buddy spent $20 on one but both guitars never came out of the amp at the same time. It was always one or the other.
