On the set of Terminator Salvation a few months ago, Christian Bale lost it when someone walked by during the filming of a scene... LISTEN The studio sent the tape to the insurance company - in case, you know, Christian - bailed.
This was one of the funniest things I've heard in awhile. He completely lost it but that guy deserved something. You don't do that shit on set. Yeah, Bale was out of control but apparently the guy didn't listen the first time he did it.
I listened to this earlier and I was cracking up. I would hate to be yelled at by Christian Bale. Thoughts of him in American Psycho would be crossing my mind.
This. He apparently kept just walking around next to the camera and was distracting the actors during a scene.
This tirade made me lose respect for him as an actor. All it proved is that he is pretentious, and self absorbed and thinks that he can talk down to and shit upon the people around him. I enjoyed him in Batman Begins, but he wasn't nearly the best actor in The Dark Knight...not by a long shot. That honor goes to the late Heath Ledger. I know the DOP was a jackass, but Bale was out of control.
Hold on a sec... I haven't listened to the audio, but I think you guys might be missing something here. Photographing a film is terribly complicated, and many times will require the crew to be -- literally -- a few feet away from the actor. The manipulation of light onto film doesn't work the same way our eyes do. Therefore, sometimes you have to get in real close to allow for the film to be properly exposed. The same is true of sound recording, especially when the audio isn't going to be dubbed in post. Now, I don't know exactly what happened, but I can sure as hell bet you that the DP would not walk in front of a filmed area during a performance. Ever. He was most likely moving around outside the frame, and this upset The Great Christian Bale. If Bale knew anything about the difficulties in photographing a film, he'd be bowing down to Hurlbut.
