OK Computer is also really good music to play Skate 2 to, as it happens.

Hey, that's not what he was doing. No one forced you to come to these threads and all he was doing was asking if anyone else was into the same bands. If you didn't like the artists, you didn't have to post in the thread accusing him of something he didn't do.

Actually, if you read the thread, he said "Lots of Radiohead haters here. How can you deny the incredible power of Exit Music (For A Film)?".

Whether Cool_Cow intended it or not, it certainly sounded like he was saying nobody can deny how good it is, i.e. forcing an opinion.

This section of the board can be so sheltered at times. At worst all he did was assert his opinion... is it really worth getting worked up over?

As far as I'm concerned it was done after he posted. Why everyone decided to jump in is beyond me.

OK Computer is probably the most pretentious album that I still like.

Most people who cite radiohead as an influence are terribly boring imho.

I definately have a soft spot for this album! Though while I think this one has some standout songs (Paranoid Android, Airbag, Subterranean Homesick Alien) I think as whole Kid A and In Rainbows are better as far as the cohesiveness of the whole album. But whatever floats your boat!

I don't see how Radiohead are pretentious at all.

They're not all that original, and they don't really claim to be as far as I know.

    No, you're not alone.

Hey! If people can question my taste (i,e. The Smashing Pumpkins thread) I hold every right to question everybody elses.

This is getting really annoying how most of the threads nowadays are derailed because someone posts that they don't like the band, and a quadrillion others come in and agree. Really, it kills discussion. If you don't like a band, either ask for recommendations if you haven't heard much from them or GTFO.

Good point Jordan, if you are saying "oh they are boring"/"they aren't my thing", etc, you aren't really contributing to the conversation. However, if you really have a problem with the band, bring it up and we can discuss it! Even though we might not come to any consensus, at least you have opinions of some substance. It just seems each thread goes:

"I like this band because of..." --> "They are boring?" --> (negative reactions) --> "Don't say that, I can have my own opinions!" --> endless arguing.

Now if someone has some real critique of Radiohead, I'd love to hear someone talk about it! And likewise with positive comments! Thanks.

Is it really stopping the conversation? No. Nobody is forcing you to stop posting. People are just expressing their opinion.

    Yoooo,

Yes, I am back, maybe for a short time only?

Either way I plan to stop by these forums for the next while. Glad someone recognizes me!

Granted, maybe I/we should post more than just "I don't like this band" (maybe more "...because..."), but to say we're not allowed to post in threads if we don't like the band is ridiculous.

If we're not allowed to discuss the band, only proclaim our love for them, what's the point?

    ugh.

There are other ways to discuss a band other than proclaiming love/disliking for them.

And people who do like the band can obviously discuss things without proclaiming their love for band. There are countless things we can discuss that are far more interesting for fans than how you don't like a band for no particular reason at all.

I hope i got that right after several attempts. :p
