Why do American's get so pissed off when people comment on the name of one of their sports?

 

Good thing I'm Australian.

 

Maybe it's because we hear it a lot and we are sick of it, lol. *shrugs*

 

The main reason for doing it is because American's get so riled up about it and it's funny to watch them try and defend it, or alternatively shun the comment completely. I could go further and comment on how World Series Baseball doesn't really involved the world at all because American's are the only people that take it seriously

 

That was a nice inception return for a touchdown.

The Superbowl annoys me, It's just another game with a hell of a lot more drunk people.

Well you have your version of sports and Americans have theirs. Yes, Americans know that our version of football doesn't involve a foot kicking a ball. We only have to try and defend it when non Americans have to call us out on it all the time. It's rather an old argument that will never be won.

And as for Baseball, yes, it doesn't involve the "World" but a quick search on the World Series will give you a history lesson on why it's called that in the first place.

With the baseball thing, why is it called the World Series? I heard it was to do with a newspaper in New York or something but I've also heard that's just bullshit. *Shrugs*
