Can't say I'm rooting for anyone more than Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. He'd totally deserve it.

Really? It's all I ever hear about.

It's about a guy who becomes a contestant on a Hindu version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire". He wins and he is suspected of cheating.

Well, I mean, I've heard of it now, but I'd never heard of it before the Academy Awards.

Hooray for The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button getting so many nominations (seriously, if you havent seen it yet, go watch it. It's amazing), but this is dissapointing. I was really hoping that this would be the year the Academy would break out of its shell and put up some mainstream stuff. I was really hoping for TDK and Wall-E for best picture. Guess not.

The Dark Knight should have been nominated for directing at least

The Dark Knight nominated for best film editing? If anything that was its weak point.

Other than that I can't really complain aside from Burn After Reading not being nominated for anything. Not that I don't think he deserves credit for that performance but I'm surprised Robert Downey Jr really did get nominated for Tropic Thunder, haha.

I really have to see Benjamin Button, Milk and Frost/Nixon. Everyone who didn't see In Bruges really ought to. It >>> Boondock Saints and the last decade of Tarantino flicks.

Slumdog was very good. Definitely deserved to be there. Dark Knight was definitely better than Ben Button.

Downey Jr. deserved it. Really good performance. He might win, if Leger was not going up against him.

Some how Button got overrated a lot. It feels a lot like Forrest Gump in ways, but not as good. It was also a lot longer than it needed to be.

But there is the story of his life told through this "suspected of cheating."It has a nice love story mixed into it. There are a lot of complex pieces that are built to make this story.

    It's really well done.

It's not that I think his performance wasn't good, I think it was a very good comic performance, it's just that as far as I know it's pretty rare for that sort of performance in a mainstream comedy film to be nominated.

Am I the only one who hated Tropic Thunder?

I laughed ONLY and I seriously mean ONLY when I figured out the bald guy was Tom Cruise at the end.

I think I'm sort of middling on the film as a whole, leaning in a more positive direction.

    +1

The comedy seemed so forced to me that I didn't even bother to finish watching the whole film.
