http://www.psxextreme.com/ps3-news/4493.html http://www.tombraiderchronicles.com/headlines3602.html Don't know what to think about this. Part of me sees the similarity and another part is like "wtf no..just...no, she's not even british!". Then again that didn't stop Jolie (an American) from portraying her. Thoughts?
I think she could pull it off by looks. But Angelina pulled the voice off perfectly, Megan...I don't see her pulling that aspect off.
I agree, she'd be able to possibly resemble Lara Croft rather closely with a ponytail and some brown contacts (since Lara's eyes are brown) but I just cant see Megan Fox pulling off an aristocratic British accent. Then again, we haven't really seen her acting skills yet as she hasn't had much exposure outside of Transformers. We could be in for a surprise. That's what I'll always give Angelina credit for. She may not have always LOOKED 100% like Lara, but she did the accent wonderfully.
That's because she can't act. As long as they focus on shots that show her body off during action scenes and focus on limited speaking parts by her, they'll be fine.
If anybody should play Lara (if Angie declines a future role) it should be Rhona Mitra (Underworld: Rise of The Lycans), Kate Beckensale or Keira Knightley. Nuff said. *EDIT* If Rhona sounds familiar it was because she was a former Lara Croft model turned actress. So she already has the experience (below pic is over 10 years old btw): Not sure if she's my top choice though to be quite honest.
Nerd! Wow, ha, didn't realize that Rhona used to be a former Croft model. I was used to her in Boston Legal. She did an okay job in Doomsday. But I think Kate Beckensale would be a kick ass Croft. Knightly wouldn't work well in the sense of the look.
I agree, I never understood why she was even needed in Transformers. She barely even acted...it was as if she was there to look cute. ...on second thought, knowing Michael Bay this wouldn't surprise me. And as for Kate Beckinsale: This picture kinda says it all. Maybe not quite a match lookwise (although she definitely could look like Lara with some SMALL adjustments), but the voice AND the toughness make her a better candidate than any.
If you take a look at Transformers they stick hot girls in there all over just for visual appeal. I'm sure the 2nd one will be no different.
She is capable of playing certain roles well. See: How To Lose Friends And Alienate People Of course that's competely different to Lara Croft. Oh well. As if anyone expected them to prioritise acting ability.
Good news: It appears Megan Fox has denied that she is the next Lara Croft. The even bigger good news? Warner Bros is taking the movie rights away from Paramount (after buying a HUGE stock in Eidos) and Terminator Salvation producer Dan Lin is signing on to direct the film. It's supposed to re-imagine the Lara Croft character and her origins, but apart from that...there's not much more information. Rhona Mitra has been asked about it publicly but she's expressed that she's not sure if she'd want to play Lara Croft again as that was her past. And Kate Beckensale sounds so much like Lara Croft it's ridiculous. She needs that role.
I can't see Kate Beckinsale taking a role that could derail her career if the movie flops like the first Tomb Raider. Edit — Then again, that didn't stop Angelina Jolie (even though I think she's ugly and a terrible actress, except for Wanted). So what do I know.
http://www.ticketnews.com/Sex-and-the-City-fashions-box-office-win06802684 How in heaven's name is that a flop, when it set a record? Please Will, please research before claiming the first TR was a flop. You may hate Tomb Raider, but there's a reason why it's still around 13 years later, and that's because people enjoy the games and the character herself. If any of the movies flopped it was Cradle of Life (the SECOND Tomb Raider film), which didn't sell many tickets at all. But that was because the movie sucked. In comparison to the first movie, the second was very sub-par.
