The Killers are reportedly planning on releasing a cover album: Could be cool. Shadowplay was a good track, hopefully they put out some other good ones here.
In all honesty I don't even need this... I still haven't gotten over how great Day and Age was imo. But I agree, shadowplay was a great song and I can't wait for this!
Not that i'd listen to this, not being a Killers fan. But i can imagine that they'd do a Phil Collins Genesis song rather than a Peter Gabriel Genesis song, which is not okay. Although if they were to do a Peter Gabriel Genesis song then i would have much more faith in The Killers than i had beforehand.
I think most people would recognize a Phil Collins-fronted Genesis song, anyway. Most kids today don't even realize Peter Gabriel was Genesis' lead singer before Collins. Gabriel only ever had one hit after anyway, and that was "In Your Eyes." But I'm looking forward to this. I love covers, and I actually gave The Killers a chance, and I liked Day & Age a bit, so this shouldn't be too bad.
The Killers really are a band you either like or don't. Some of their songs are just downright strange sounding and a lot of people just don't get them. All of their singles really captured me but every time I tried to get into their other material it was hard. Day and Age though I think is an album just about anyone can enjoy though.
The thing about The Killers is that, while I love them, I can completely see why other people hate them. Heck, I can see why they would hate the very things that I love about the band.
In other related news, The Killers have released their video for Spaceman. Its very.....WTF? http://stereogum.com/archives/video/new-killers-video-spaceman_047891.html
Sounds awesome, can't wait. Hope some of my fave classic songs make it on here. Flowers is gonna choose some Bowie for sure. As for the Spaceman video, I'll have to third the notion of WTF!? The concept makes no sense and the video's all over the place, but hell, it's still enjoyable.
erghhhhhh. I disagree with pretty much all of what you just said. The Killers really aren't that complex of a band. Maybe the lyrics need a bit of reading into at times, but for the most part they're an 80's obsessed mainstream rock band. The reason that I, and many other people, dislike The Killers is not because we don't get them. It's for plenty of other reasons and I myself find them insanely boring.
I am a fan of theirs but I thought their version of Shadowplay was terrible. Hopefully the rest will be better.
